[floatl][IMG][/floatl] So all the Yu-Gi-Oh! sites have been copying and pasting the product info for the upcoming 2009 Collectible Tins. While there's not much to say on the matter beyond that, I'd much rather speak about the product in a more general way and maybe even reveal a few things that we hadn't really thought of rather then just dittoing the info.

    What's So Great About It?
Their official name is Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's 2009 Collection Tin Wave 1. [*gasps for breath*] Whether that means there will be a Wave 2 remains to be seen. The twin tins boast being the only way to get a hold of 2 First Edition packs of the upcoming Ancient Prophecy Booster Set, and will feature the release of the the highly marketable--[ahem], I'm sorry, the highly prominent Ancient Fairy Dragon and Power Tool Dragon from the 5D's series. By sheer coincidence, these two dragons will be prominent Monster Cards for the next two seasons of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5d's. What luck!

In addition, the tins will feature "3 other highly sought after boosters", which, when translated from marketing-speak, means "booster pack backstock that isn't selling well anymore." One source reveals these extras to be 2 packs of Crimson Crisis and 1 pack of Raging Battle in addition to 1 Secret Rare Variant, 1 pack of Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's card sleeves, and "tin partitions" to help keep the cards secured within in the tin.

Yeah, I Don't Watch The Anime Either
So here's what the two dragons do, in case your wondering:

    [floatl][IMG][/floatl]Ancient Fairy Dragon
    ATK:2100 DEF:3000
    1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
Once per turn, you can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower monster from your hand. If you activated this effect, you cannot enter your Battle Phase this turn. Also once per turn, you can destroy a Field Spell Card and gain 1000 Life Points. Then, you can add 1 Field Spell Card from your Deck to your hand.

    [floatl][IMG][/floatl]Power Tool Dragon
    ATK:2300 DEF:2500
    1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
Once per turn, during your Main Phase, you can select 3 Equip Spell Cards from your Deck, have your opponent pick 1 of them at random, and add it to your hand. Return the remaining cards to your Deck. If this card would be destroyed while equipped with an Equip Spell Card, you can send that card to the Graveyard instead.

Coming to a Greasy Comic Book Guy Near You!
Due out in August, pre-orders of this these tins are already available at a number of retailers like ToyWiz or Amazon in the $15 to 20$ dollar range on most online stores.

Keep an eye on DJ's Comic & Cards, as I will be adding the tins to our Yu-Gi-Oh! section, in what I can only refer to as "a shameless act of self promotion." Of course, we'll have to wait until it's back in stock.

Take a second look at the upcoming Sept 1 Advanced Format list and see if that doesn't put things in to perspective, even if only a little. I personally am looking forward to the release of Ancient Prophecy along with whatever the heck this giant monkey does. I don't even care what that is.

And for those of you wondering who that monkey is...

    Earthbound Immortal Cusillu
    ATK:2800 DEF:2400

Only 1 "Earthbound Immortal" monster can be face-up on the field. When there is no Field Spell Card face-up on the field, this card is destroyed. Your opponent cannot select this card as an attack target. This card can attack your opponent directly. When this face-up card would be destroyed by battle, you can Tribute 1 monster you control to prevent this card from being destroyed and halve your opponent's Life Points.
