    I like the idea of balancing overpwered or poorly thought out card effects. So this is my thread to theorize on some actual card erratas. Don't think they make any sence? Tough schmoogies. :silly_jed This isn't about whether it's a good idea or not. It's about having fun with the idea and seeing where it will take us. So keep your cool in this thread. I'm not going to lock my own thread. I'll just delete your posts if you can't control yourselves. We cool? Cool. :headbang_

    I agree with this. It would make these cards not so BROKEN.

    [ycard="DB1-EN113"]Dark Hole[/ycard] does not need to do errata. It has its own drawbacks to begin with, even if people are using it like a [ycard="DB1-EN114"]Raigeki[/ycard]. There is no need to change what it already does.

    The fact that you can activate it before your Battle Phase gives it too much leeway. There is no other TCG I know of that has a card with such a clear removal power and so little cost or disdvantage.

    I'd have thought needing [ycard="LOB-EN051"]Yami[/ycard] on the field to activate [ycard="DB1-EN113"]Dark Hole[/ycard] would be a good idea. We have enough Umi-related stuff, so why not other basic Field Spell Cards?

    [ycard="DB1-EN113"]Dark Hole[/ycard] - I think this would be a nice alternative.

    [ycard="DB1-EN114"]Raigeki[/ycard] - Would probably have less confusion if you skipped the Battle Phase (otherwise the spell immune might still get to attack)

    [ycard="SDD-003"]Harpie's Feather Duster[/ycard] - That would be a great way to ramp it down, it would basically be a cost version of [ycard="SD5-EN023"]Heavy Storm[/ycard]. Though I'd be shocked and amazed to see anybody actually trying to pull off the Sister's option as there is a no cost version with [ycard="SD6-EN026"]Dark Magic Attack[/ycard] that would be much easier to pull off. (Okay now what would you suggest for [ycard="SD5-EN023"]Heavy Storm[/ycard]?)

    [ycard="DR2-EN025"]Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning[/ycard] - This is exactly what they should have done with him in the first place. It costs as much to bring out [ycard="IOC-020"]Fenrir[/ycard], [ycard="DB2-EN005"]Soul of Purity and Light[/ycard], or [ycard="SD6-EN012"]Chaos Sorcerer[/ycard]. The big guys needed to be put in a more difficult range for their summon.

    I would try to keep it simple:

    I like them, but if all broken cards had not-so-broken effects...

    There would be no broken cards. What's the fun in that?! :p

    But other than that. The [ycard="DB1-EN113"]Dark Hole[/ycard] errata would be weird, no card has ever mentioned a "Main Phase 2" usually the game refers to Main Phases as just "Main Phase" Main Phase 2 only exists in gameplay. Main Phase 2 wouldn't exist unless you conduct a battle phase. So it may be better like : "Skip your battle phase." But that's already used in one of them. :( I'd probably make it like... "You can only activate this card if you have 2 or more monsters on your side of the field, destroy all monsters on the field." :D

    I'm just nitpicking. Looks great.

    Thanks. There used to be one card that did mention Main Phase 2, but I believe it's since been errated. Can't remember the effect for the life of me though. I think it cancelled your Battle Phase and forced you into Main Phase 2.
  10. I believe u moght be thinking [ycard="PGD-010"]Timeater[/ycard].
    When this monster destroys one of your opponents monsters as a result of battle, your opponent skips his/her next Main Phase 1

    This logic confounds me. :huh_jedi:

    There will always be a TCG with the "most broken" card of all TCGs in it. If we changed [ycard="DB1-EN113"]Dark Hole[/ycard] to be un-broken, then some OTHER TCG would have the "most broken" card. We can't fault YGO for being at the top of the list. Moreover, we can't fault YGO simply because it's different from other TCGs: There's no law saying it has to be similar to others.

    I am neither agreeing nor disagreeing with the concept that [ycard="DB1-EN113"]Dark Hole[/ycard] should be errataed. That is a debate that has been argued thousands of times before, as described in my "OH MY GAWD ... (etc)" thread. I'm merely pointing out that the logic you're using is . . . not logical. :dur_jedi:

    So it makes more sense to just ban them from play altogether? The whole point of my thread is not whether it's a good idea or not. It's to show it's possible and make a place for it peoples binders again. It's also not true that al TCGs have broken cards. TCGs have cards that offer more advantages then others. Yu-Gi-Oh!'s "broken" cards do that to an extent that no oterh TCG has managed to accomplish. Quite frankly these cards are banned because they are way too easy activate.
  15. DO NOT BAN [ycard="DB1-EN113"]Dark Hole[/ycard]!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    It is a very balenced card and there are SOOOOOOOOo many counters it means nothing to call it broken

    This is not the proper venue for such outbursts. [ycard="DB1-EN113"]Dark Hole[/ycard] has gone in and out of ban status and looks like it will be back on the next ban list. This thread is simply talking about alternatives that could make the cards playable without the "Broken" status.

    [ycard="TSC-003"]Negate Attack[/ycard] I think says that.
  18. [ycard="TSC-003"]Negate Attack[/ycard]
    Counter Trap

    You can only activate this card when your opponent's monster declares an attack. Negate the attack of that 1 monster and end the Battle Phase.
