Please explain to me how a player can play a Umi and A Legendary Ocean at the same time. They are both field spell cards and according to the rules only one field spell card can be active at a time. (player uses a water-based deck) Thanks

I understand that these cards are basically the same type of field spell card and you can only have a combination of a total of three if your deck and side(read in rules). The person I'm dueling runs 3 of each and also plays Umi and A Legendary Ocean at the same time. I would like to know how...
