Wrong. His effect removes ALL cards, not only monsters. So any spell and/or trap card you play will be removed (unless the card is supposed to stay on the field of course) at the end of the chain, if Banisher of the Light is still face-up on the field.

Wave-Motion Cannon counts standby phases, that's why it doesn't work on it. It works on Final Countdown and that counts turns. Blockman also count turns, so I would say that Pyro Clock would work on it.
