Another Oct. 1st Deck

Duelist 316

The Game
Now that I am playing @ regionals on the 8th for sure, I need to build something a little more serious than Beastdown. SJC Atlanta isn't till the 8th either, so there's nothing to netdeck (not that I would ever do that...) and I have to go from scratch. I'm going to try a basic chaos/control deck as the base and build from there as I playtest it over the week. Thoughts and comments are welcome, but remember this is for serious play and I would rather go w/ power and consistency than tech.

Here's the deck as it stands now.

With the Scapegoats down to one, Enraged just seems like a waste of space at this point. The only other thing he really does is provide 200-500 points of extra damage by himself, and only an extra 300 when Berserk is out to help. I suggest you side deck them and pull them in only if you see a wall of reapers on the opponent's field in game one. D.D. Survivor, Zombyra the Dark, Drillroid, or Iggy (universe that is) seem like better decisions to me. Night Assailant at one basically makes him a Man-Eater Bug with an extra effect. Just not worth it, especially in a meta that will have so little disruption. Monster Reincarnation's effect is to weak to warrent a discard (to the field would be a different matter), and even something along the lines of Lightning Vortex makes me extremely unfomfortable unless there was just a fresh Morphing Jar. I think you should try an Exiled, Old Vindictave Mage (Apprentice=friend), Spirit Reaper, or another LIGHT monster of some sort (geez...even post ban we ahve to think about LIGHT/DARK ratios...). Reincarnation might do better as an Evac Device, especially if you expect high V-Lord play (which you should), beacause V is much less dangerous in the hand than on the field or graveyard (Phoenix feels the same way).

With everyone playing Zombie cookie-cutters, I'm sure Reaper will be a popular card. Keep in mind Enraged lends his trampling abilities to Phoenix as well.

Assailant is there as a DARK type alternative to Exiled Force who can also lessen the pain of discarding for Card Destruction and Lightning Vortex. Recursion of Cyber Jar is important too, in order to fill the field with high powered tramplers.

Monster Reincarnation is a weak link in the deck, I'll give you that. However, it combos extremely well with Magical Merchant, and there aren't that many viable alternatives to fill the empty spot. I don't want to add more traps, as many post ban decks are playing 2-3 Royal Decrees. As for spells, nothing stands out. Creature Swap is more of a Zombie thing (Turtles, Reapers) and My Body is only good in pure aggro. If I can think of something that will actually help the deck out, I will take out Reincarnation. But for now it stays until further playtesting.

actually chaos is very playable, but it got hurt by alot.

me and a friend were talking about it a few days ago.

he said using 2 Chaos Sorcerers is a good replacement for the soldier.

basically the build just changes a bit, but same basic thing, of course whats hurt is the fact you cant just kill face downs as easy as before.

hence the following cards help out alot.

Mystic Swordsman LV 2-6
Sasuke Samurai
Soul Exchange
Nobleman of Crossout
Mind Control
D. D. Traphole (Comboed with several other cards like D. D. Survivor, Book of Moon, and Tsukuyomi)

other than that, if anything there could be a whole new variantion of chaos. :)

ill come up with something then post it up. I also need to get more Soul Exchange.
