Dino Lair

Dino's Rule... i've decided to make something out of them... something strong, something that could possibly make them a contender in tourney's... i sort of based it upon monarchs... i was thinking of mobius and zaborg as they have more of impact i think, thestalos meh... not so much thats more of a pure breed... so here you see mobius but wait theres no zaborg... ive replaced him with a trap... skull lair... here skull lair has 2 functions... it doubles up as zaborg to remove monsters... and it fuels my rfg pile with dinos... thats where tyranno infinity comes in... making him a possible otk suspect or a no tribute vanilla beatstick... the rest of the dinos just makes everything flow... possible cards i've thought of adding are: rftdd, gaia power and megamorph. lmk of any suggestions.

I'm a really strong advocate of the presence of themes in so-called "Theme Decks". Therefore when I see a "Dino Deck" in which only half the monsters are actually Dinosaurs, I tend to get a little miffed. I'm a purist (i.e. Dinosaurs ONLY!), but I suppose splashing around a couple (i.e. 1 or 2) of CC cards wouldn't be bad.

In my mind, Dinosaurs have enough support to stand on their own, with zero support from other Monster Types. Throwing in random other cards simply because they're "staples" (particularly monsters - Spells and Traps aren't as much of an issue) detracts from the theme thing you were supposedly going for in the first place.

I'm only saying this because you didn't call it a CC/Dino Deck or something similar. Looking at the name "Dino Lair", I'd say a true Dinosaur Deck with Survival Instinct would work just as well to power up that Tyranno Infinity. Plus you can use Jurassic World without fear that your opponent will gain anything (unless they're running Dinosaurs too, which wouldn't be very likely).

I mean no offense by any of this, of course. It's just a rant.

I agree with Maruno about the theme, but I have to also admit that Dinos still don't have enough Monster support. I play Treeborn, because, hey, frogs is reptiles and reptiles belong with Dinos (non-Aliens).
-2 Mobius
+2 Dark Driceritops
-1 Exiled
+1 Treeborn

Also, I have found Soul Release much more helpful (especially against the new Future Fussion CCs coming out, using it against their GY) in the game to power up my Infinity, so

-3 Skull Lair
+2 Soul Release
+1 Premature

maruno, believe me i was trying to stick to dinos as much as possible, but dino's lack that versatility that some cc cards have... dinos are made for beatdown and aggressiveness... they arent versatile enough and dont ahve the support against m/t's and stuff... thats why i wanted mobius and breaker to fill that role... i've tried survival instinct and it stinx... heres why... survival instinct only removes dinos and only gives me lp... something that ill hardly be desperate for... skull lair is much more versatile as it can use non-dino's for its effect, and its effect can kill monsters...
dark logician, no offense but im practically going to ignore everything you said... i dont think you understood the theme of this deck nor how the cards actually work... first... soul release is horrible... it has a high probability of being a dead draw and removing my opps monsters or mine doesnt give me any advantage... tyranno only improves from DINO's getting removed on MY SIDE... treeborn frog? weakling like that doesnt deserve play... i only have 2 tribute monsters and i dont need the frog to help bring him out... plus... frog is useless with skull lair on the field... he doesnt come back... dark driceratops? why i dont need him, hes just vanilla beatstick that will die quickly... mobius will instantly clear my opps back field for letting my dinos bash in... dino's are not made for anything but being aggressive and attacking, if they cant attack, they are useless... in the grave, skull lair can use them to whipe my opps... imagine this scenario (it happened btw) opp has 2 monsters in atk mode and enters battle against my 0 atk ultimate tyranno... he atks with one monster... i skull lair his other monster killing him and at the same time powering up tyranno to make him stronger then his aggressor, killing 2 monsters with one bullet... i've tested this deck quite a few times and combinations of this sort can tear up your opps field... there is no deck thats been tournament worthy that hasnt been aided from support of cc monsters... monarch, dark world, return, beatdown, stall, otk... all of them run it for a reason... they work, they are that splashable... and skull lair can use them just as well. take in mind what im trying to accomplish here... this is supposed to be a near otk deck with mobius and breaker and mst to clear theyr back row so my dino's can shine their aggressiveness... skull lair will be able to stop anything that dares to stand up... its sort of a similar concept like monarchs do... mobius will clear m/ts skull lair will do zaborgs job and tyranno infinity is technically a 'random stein' hyper hammerhead, giant rat, hydrogeddon and black stego are basically the floaters that will control the tempo of the game... monarch control is still more cc-ish but this deck has more for a theme and a cooler approach to the current meta trends that are comming up... gilasaurus just isnt worthy, id put him if i had tributes but hes not worth including just for 2 mobius... hes not even aggressive enough and besides, why would i wanna give my opp the chance to get a monster from his gy after just killing it with skull lair...
