Believe it or not, ² doesn't not mean it's a sequel.
So I got to read this the other night once I caught up on my NuWho viewing and I have to say, I enjoyed it a lot. I thought it was pretty slow in the beginning. Seemingly they were trying to be like a typical episode of TNG, with a subplot with characters you don't know or care anything about. It's a little rougher to swallow in comic form. But once you get that portion of the the book (which is pretty sizable, I'm not gonna lie) it's a really clever connection they make to the two universes and they bring in the Doctor in a really fun way. The characterizations were spot on. And Picard and the 11th Doctor had really great chemistry together.
Also there's this flashback art that was handled brilliantly.
