DP05-EN020: Destiny Draw

Now I review another D-Hero Support card. And this is IMO the BEST D-HERO SUPPORT EVER! If E-Hero decks had support like this I would LOVE IT, but no, only D-Hero gets it cause they're cooler.

So now I'll review the Deus Ex Machina of D-Hero spell card.

-------------
Destiny Draw
Spell - Normal

text from DMCOMET (i.e. not the offical English text)

Discard a card with [D-Hero] in its name from your hand. Draw 2 cards from your deck.

-------------

Nice, short, and to the point. Now, did I just read that right? DRAW 2 CARD?! ZOMG, is this Pot of Greed?! No, not really. It's not Pot of Greed. It's more like a semi-Graceful Charity. Why? Cause you discard a card. So you lose a card + the use of this card activation to draw two cards. So you lose two to gain two. Sound exactly like Graceful Charity. (You draw 3, and then you lose three since you discard 2+activation of Graceful Charity) But still, we ALL LOVE Graceful Charity and it's 1x per deck for a dang good reason. But this card have limitations.

#1: You have to discard a D-Hero, D-Hero only, and it's a COST. So no, you don't immdiately draw first like Graceful Charity, you discard first THEN you draw. So if you don't have the discard ready for the cost, this card is a dead card. (i.e. bad top deck when you got nothing in your hand) And since you have to discard a D-Hero from your hand, you can only run this card in D-Hero Decks only. However, there are good things comes from this as some D-Heros LOVES the Graveyard and ways to bypass the cost.

#2: What to discard. Well, you can discard any D-Hero, but since your discarding, might as well discard a card that'll give you advantage when hits the graveyard. (e.g. For say Graceful Charity, people try to discard Treeborn Frog, Dark World, Night Assailant, or 2x Monsters when they have PoA in their hand, etc.) Well, there are two Destiny Hero that's pretty much begged to be in the Graveyard. And that's Dasher and Malicious.

(Read my review on D-Hero Malicious http://www.cogonline.net/showthread.php?p=159606)

When Dasher is in the graveyard, you special summon whatever monster you draw during your draw phase, and Malicious gets another copy from the deck when in the graveyard. Those are all +1 when in the grave. And the last thing you want when you run Dashers in your deck is to summon Dasher, and your foe BTH the poor thing. I always find myself using graceful/Card Destruction/Morphing Jar on my Dashers, might as well use this as well.

#3: You can IGNORE the cost and just draw 2 cards. Now, what card effect lets you ignore cost and activation requirement of a Normal Spell Card? That Destiny Hero - Diamond Dude of course. And guess what, it's ANOTHER Destiny Hero. Fits in perfectly. So say you summon Diamond dude, activate it's effect on priority, and look at your top card. If it's Destiny Draw, great. Send that to the graveyard. Then at your next turn, you draw 1 card during your draw phase, and then you draw 2 cards during your main phase. That 3 CARD DRAWING! Sure, it got 1 turn delay effect, but you draw 3 CARDS WITH NO COST. This is more broken power then even Pot of Greed. You guys might go, "But that's pot luck, with Diamond Dude". Yes, it IS pot luck. But it's the BEST POT LUCK EVER. Do you see ANY pot luck effect that lets you DRAW 3 CARDS AND LET YOU KEEP IT ALL? No, not even Graceful Charity or Pot of Greed is in this level of luck-sack FTW. So run 3x of Diamond Dude and 3x of Destiny Draw, and the chances of this pot-luck is decent enough to go for it. And if you got Destiny Draw in your hand, hopefully you run enough Destiny Heros to use it's effect anyway so it's not bad. I mean, this isn't just "random pot luck" like trying to using Chaos Greed/Ojama Delta Hurricane! in your deck just for Diamond Dude. This is a pot-luck that fits your deck and safe when in your hand.

Anyway, this card makes you DRAW DRAW AND DRAW. And we know that in YGO, draw power is everything. Of all the great effects, the most highly ranked effect is draw power. (Then it's either special summoning power or it's 2 for 1 or 1 for 1 trade-off of field/hand/ power) With this card, you can draw the heck out of your deck to get huge card advantage to get your engine going to beat your foe outright.

--------

In the end, I give this card a

9 out of 10

The only reason why it's not higher rank is cause it's only for D-Hero deck. Another words, not splashable. If the text said, "discard 1 card from your hand". (i.e. discard ANY card) to draw 2 cards, EVERYBODY will run this and it'll be immediately and this card will be put to 1x per deck restricted. But sadly, it's just for D-heros. And luckly, this card supports the theme greatly along with D-Heros even support this card with Dasher/Malicious/Diamond Dude. So it supports and gets supported. What else do you want.

9 out of 10 seems a bit high, since it does require a lot of support. Supported properly, it's amazing. But without that support, you're just looking at a useless Spell. Still, I like it. And will be playing it when it comes out.

Hmm- sounds like a good card for an Exodia deck.
I'm sure that it wouldn't be so bad to put a deck together for it...
Imagine having clock tower prison for stall and creature swap to give the opponent D-hero Defender so that you draw the card every turn. Alternatively, use Appropriate with D-hero defender.
Dreadmaster with Card of Safe Return, Fear monger for more stall etc...

There may be some possibilities here?
