Edward Norton is The Incredible Hulk!

Two-time Academy Award® nominee Edward Norton has signed on to play Bruce Banner, who transforms into Marvel's renowned, larger-than-life Super Hero, The Hulk in Marvel Studios' action-packed, new big screen adaptation of The Incredible Hulk. The film, which is being directed by Louis Leterrier and distributed by Universal Pictures, is scheduled to smash into theaters on June 13, 2008.

"Edward Norton is a rare talent and one of the most versatile actors in the business. His ability to transform into a particular role makes him the ideal choice to take on the character of Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Edward is perfectly suited to bring one of the most popular and important Marvel icons to the big screen in a new and exciting way," said Kevin Feige, President of Production, Marvel Studios.

Under the visionary direction of Louis Leterrier (Transporter 2, Unleashed), The Incredible Hulk will return to the roots of the long-running comic series and television show.

The story unfolds when the pursuit for The Hulk - the world's most misunderstood, primal force of fury - heats up, finding Bruce Banner on the run attempting to cure his condition before his pursuers capture him.

Edward Norton is widely recognized as one of Hollywood's most multifaceted actors. Having appeared in more than 20 films to date, he has garnered numerous accolades, including two Academy Award nominations. He received a Best Actor nod for his portrayal of a former Neo-Nazi in American History X, as well as Supporting Actor recognition for his role opposite Richard Gere in Primal Fear. He will next been seen in Pride and Glory (co-starring Colin Farrell). Other film credits include: Fight Club, The Painted Veil, The Illusionist, The Score, 25th Hour, Frida, Death to Smoochy, and The People vs. Larry Flynt.

Filming is slated to begin in Toronto this summer.

The Incredible Hulk film is being produced by Avi Arad, Gale Anne Hurd and Kevin Feige and will be executive produced by Jim Van Wyck, David Maisel, Ari Arad and Stan Lee. Norton is represented by Brian Swardstrom of Endeavor.

Universal Pictures will distribute the film domestically and in various international territories.

Considering how bad the graphics were on "The Hulk", I'm not holding my breath until I find out who (or what) is playing the Hulk. I'm sorry, but I was very disappointed in the CGI. It didn't work for Cat Woman, it didn't work for The Hulk....worked pretty good for Spiderman, but we'll see. I agree though Norton can do Banner.

Interesting. The CG on Spidey always looked obvious to me. Maybe because I can contrast a CG man in a Spidey suit with a real man in a Spidey suit and spot the differences. But on Hulk. I don't know. I heard a lot of people say the same thing about the Hulk not looking real. I have to ask, what's an 9-foot hulking green behemoth really look like? I could agree that the CG looked fake, if I knew what we were contrasting it with.

The story had me all the way up to the dad and his abrupt transformation. I'm not saying the whole dad subplot didn't add an extra layer of understanding about where Banner's rage comes from. But it's the eventual resolution of that subplot that went off into left field towards the end of the movie. If they wanted to give Hulk a superpowered antagonist they should have developed him early in the film, not suddenly within the last 20-30 minutes of the film. I would have done it differently.

I'm honestly glad they didn't just paint some dude when they were going to have to CG 90% of everything he did anyway. Besides, did we ever really by Lou Ferrigno as the comic book Hulk? Or did we just receive him as the best they could do with what they had at the time?

Lou Ferrigno--I was 10... At that age Battlestar Galactica had awesome effects!! Glad to see he is still getting work with King of Queens. Really neat guy.

So what is next with the remakes? The New Lone ranger? Why not, they did the Shadow? How about one of the Green Lanterns?

I think we're forgetting a very important part... Avi Arad is directing. That makes me :D

Norton as Banner is very believable. But I'll be interested to see the CGI as well. I'm also interested to see how the storyline for this one will play out. I'd like to see Abomination or some other Hulk villian. And where's Doc Samson?

Edward norton is pretty much my favorite actor. Death to Smoochy was amazing, 25th hour is one of my favorite movies, and he was amazing in American History X. Two parts of 25th hour that were my favorites: When he has the monologue as he's looking in the mirror "*&*$ this town and everything in it" and the part at the end where his dad tells him what life could be like if he skipped on jail. One of the best actors of our time.

hehe, you're in the same age range as me and deepdark.

Lou Ferrigno was the hulk and Bill Bixby (sp?) was the twinkie man. Green Lantern is one of my favorites... sadly his comic book creator died this year :(

There is a pretty good Lone Ranger comic out right now. They say he's very gritty like the westerns we get nowadays. There is supposed to be a new Shadow movie coming out, as well. Or maybe I'm thinking of the Spirit. Personally, I was always saddened they never did the Green Hornet movie they talked about years ago. It was supposed to star Greg Kinnear as the Hornet and Jason Lee as Kado.

Okay, just watched "Down in the Valley" with Edward Norton as a....well, it's hard to tell really. And that was the perfect way to play him. He was sort of a sociopath or some sort of nut job, but one of the nicest. He was in his own world, but not ditzy. There were children in danger, but the way he played the character, you really never feared the bad. He was the perfect person for that part. But then again, the writer wrote it with him in mind (He rather bashfully admitted in an interview with Rolling Stone-played on the DVD- that Nortmon was his favorite actor). Really, if you haven't seen it, check it out. A modern day western.

The last movie I saw with Norton was The Illusionist. He sort of had quirky calmness to him in that one. Usually he plays some variation on a nut job.
