when a card is flipped face down, it loses whatever card effects previously placed upon it.

i have a face-up golem sentry on my side of the field.
i activate Guard Penalty and select my golem sentry. i then use golem's ability to flip it FD into DEF.

will i draw for guard penalty (as it is now in def and guard penalty does not specify fu/fd)
or will golem being flipped down "erase" guard penalty's effect?

Guard Penalty
Quick-Play Spell

Select 1 monster on the field. If the selected monster is changed to Defense Position this turn, draw 1 card from your Deck.

You draw 1 card even if the selected monster is changed from face-up Attack Position to face-down Defense Position. If you select "Guardian Sphinx" you could use its effect to flip itself face-down and draw 1 card.
