Forget Al Qaeda. What about the threat from these friggin Camel Spiders? It's like Starship Troopers over there.
 
:( I remember the Camel Spider well. They still make my skin crawl. They are actually scorpions of the "wind spider" family. They are the second fastest bug/arachnid only to the cockroach. I have to say though, I never saw any (or had any on me) that big, still, creepy. I remember waking up to this woman in my medical unit scream. She had just had one crawl over her face.
 
I think the spiders in the pic, are just a little bit closer then legs of the soldier in the background. Either way, their still friggin huge. Have I mentioned, I'm not fond of spiders.

I agree that they are closer and that the focal distance point gives the optical illusion. I just have never seen them that big before. Could you imagine waking up to those nasty things. I only had a small one on my shoulder one day and that was enough to give me the willies.
 
DJ your memory for terrible movies sucks. Ya probably dont even remember the cool and obviously realistic guns they had in Transmorphers.
 
I liked Starship Troopers. It's one of my favorite movies. Don't talk to me about bad movies until you've seen the movies I had to actually pay to sit though in the 70s and 80s. When you had to go to the theaters to see a movie like Ghoulies and Battle Beyond the Stars. :p

You're right on there... you can see the cuff/hand of the guy holding them.

The Others tried (miserably) to piggy-back The Sixth Sense. 5 mins. into the movie, I turned to my wife and said, "She's dead."
 
Best rubbish movie ever was Rocky Horror Picture Show. Was terrible when it came out and its still stupid but its fun and is one of the most widely followed movies ever.

1989, University of North Texas, Halloween...4 shows, including a drag cast show (where all the roles were swapped to the opposit sex). Nothing like seeing an "endowed" young lady in the Frankenfurter costume! I quivered with....well, it wasn't ANTICIPATION.
 
Manos, the Hands of Fate. On record as the WORST ever. So bad even Mystery Science Theatre 3000 appologized for airing it, and even attempting to improve it with witty banter. The failure not being theirs, but the material. So bad you can't even mock it. That's tough.

On Topic: Those are some big, ugly scorp-ders (or spid-pions), but I'd estimate their body lengths are (only) 6-7" long, given the standard BDU cuff.
