so i was breezing some of the older IRS threads.
and skey brings up a good point regarding the summoning.

does IRS need the special summoned monster on the field when IRS tries to resolve, or is that monster's name copied at activation?

maybe it's me, but i didn't see a resolution to this question in this thread, or others.

the specific combination i'm thinking of:
the turn player activates premature burial
NTP has a face up monster, so turn player activates IRS
turn player chains enemy controller to IRS

so controller resolves, the premature monster is in the grave, and ntp's monster is stolen.
would IRS then get to summon the copies of the premature'd monster?

i believe the monster's name is copied at activation.
since the activation requirement states that a monster must be special summoned first, it will be face up, and thus have a name. so for IRS to properly activate, it must first reference that special summoned monster

This falls under that catagory we were discussing not too long ago about cards that need to be on the field during resolution for the purposes of the damage step and sending to the graveyard (ala Hydrogeddon, etc.). Skey's answer holds true here as well. If a card needs a reference in order to resolve, the reference must still be available at the resolution. When IRS resolves it looks to the card for which it was activated to see what name it needs to pull out of the Deck or Graveyard. If the card (reference) is no longer there, it cannot bring anything up for the TP. Then it looks to the NTP's field to see if they still have a reference. If so, it resolves that portion of its effect, if not, they get nothing.
