[judge-yu] Tribute Summoned Sucessfully?

Hi I got some problems at my local tourney and I need a solid answer on this.

Some cards say "When this card is Tribute Summoned Sucessfully..."
Now I'm asumming that if you activate Torrential Tribute, Bottomless Trap Hole, Book of Moon to name a few the effect does NOT get activated since it didn't get Summoned Sucessfully. Some guys just won't agree on my ruling saying that I am wrong.

So

If player A Tribute Summons Zaborg the Thunder Monarch and Player B activates Bottomless Trap Hole....

Does Player A gets his effect?

I'm assuming not but I want a solid answer on this from you guys.

Answer:

Monsters are considered to be "successfully Summoned" when their Summon is not negated. Summons are normally negated by cards like "Solemn Judgment," "Horn of Heaven," or "Royal Oppression."

Monsters are considered to be "successfully Tribute Summoned" when their Tribute Summoned is not negated.


In your example, "Zaborg the Thunder Monarch" was successfully Tribute Summoned, thus its Trigger-Effect activates, the target is chosen, and the opponent is then given their chance to respond with "Bottomless Trap Hole," "Torrential Tribute," "Book of Moon," etc.

It seems there is still some misconceptions on what a succesful summon is even among the judges. I don;'t know what the current Level 1 test entails, but I think that a the differences between a successful summon and a negated summon should be part of that test.
 
Well a succesfull summon even counts if the monster has been on the field for a very very short time, therefor we call it 'priority' because it has been played from the hand directly.

Well you see, thats not entirely the case. What makes it a sucessful summon is if the summon has not been negated. What your refering to is the Turn Players right to go first during a given turn. Priority allows that player to activate the ignition effect (Or any other Spell Speed 2 effects) of the monster summoned before the opponent can respond to the summon.

But the summon is a seperate thing from priority. It's the response chain that a summon creates that allows a monster to be destroy some time after it has been succesfully summoned. But after that chain has resolved then cards that respond to summons (Trap Hole Bottomless Trap Hole, Torrential Tribute) cannot be activated in response to it.
