"If you are selected for sponsorship, a UDE staff member will contact you
between April 17, 2006 and April 19, 2006 to let you know the type of
sponsorship you have received and to arrange travel to the event."

They never contacted me... so that means they didn't accept me :eek:rcspash:

Or perhaps they are simply behind and haven't contacted you yet. We all know UDE has such a great reputation for taking care of things in a timely manner. :)

very true, they screwed up the shadow of infinity shirts... i'm now missing a shirt from my collection

Hello fellow judges !!!

Well, it turns out that UDE was a little behind in their timeline for replies.

I just got a reply about my sponsorship application and I got accepted for full sponsorship !!!

Whew !!!

I hope to see some of you guys there...especially you John Danker !!!

So for those of you who are reading this...go check your email...as there might be good news waiting for you !!!

"Dear Judge,

Thank you very much for applying for sponsorship to The 2006 Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG US National Championship.

We received many applications for sponsorship, however we could only accept a very limited number of judges for this event. At this time, we will not be able to offer you a sponsorship. We encourage you to continue developing your skills, and training as a judge and we hope you continue to apply for future events.

Not being chosen does not mean that we think you are a poor judge, or that we don't like you. Judges were chosen for a variety of reasons, including geographic location, rules knowledge, player management skills, and number of events that the judge has attended in the past, among other reasons.

If you would like to volunteer to help at the event, please email judge@upperdeck.com with the subject line "Judge Volunteer for The 2006 Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG US National Championship".

Again, thank you for your application and we hope to work with you at a future event.

Sincerely,

Ian Estrin
Judge Manager
Upper Deck Entertainment"

I think maybe I'm too far away...

I got mine too! I got accepted for Full Sponsorship as well!

Wait, does that mean that all 3 of the L3 "Simon's" will be in attendance??

I can't wait to meet everyone face-to-face finally!

Congrats to you all on your acceptance! Its nice to see that if I were competing at nationals, there is a large group of judges I know and respect running the show.

Hang in there Exiledforcefreak. I know it can be disheartening given your love of the game, but there's always next year.

Wow...I think you're right Skey23...all three of us WILL be there. I really look forward to meeting you. Very neat...I'm gonna ask Julia Hedberg to take a picture of us....hehehe.

We should try to confuse the PES support staff by being in different teams...so when they look at me and ask, "Simon, are you done posting pairings?", I can honestly reply, "No, that's Simon's job".

BTW, Exiledforcefreak, as Dille-O mentioned, don't get discouraged. Also, I don't know where you live, but I doubt that is a factor. They flew in Steve Okegawa one time, and he lives in Alaska! I remember when I applied for full sponsorship for the very first SJC (back in December 2004) and I got turned down. While my friend, Frank DeBrito, who was a Level Two judge at the time, got accepted. Which was cool, as Frank got to develop his skills (which were already formidable) and knowledge as a judge.

So, what I'm trying to say is that Ian Estrin will usually give sponsorship opportunities to different judges at different times. So make sure to apply for the next sponsorship when it becomes available. I know I will (if my schedule permits), and if UDE doesn't pick me, I know that they have a solid reason for doing so.

Take care !!!

I won't be making it this time folks, got my dear John letter <shrug> I was blessed to have been sponsored the previous two nationals, perhaps next year.

With the increasing number of L2 and L3 judges (I think there are about 35 or so L3s this year as comparied to about 20 or so this time last year) I'm sure UDE wishes to have the experience shared and let many gain that valuable honor and experience....as well they should!

Enjoy your experience those of you who will be there! I hope to see you at either the SJC Chicago or GenCon Indy.

Three "Simon"s are going to be there. Sorry Skey but from now on, you are going to be Simon #3 instead. =)

Sorry to hear that you weren't sponsored, John and Exiledforcefreak.

I just can't wait for June now despite us being in mid-April.

Three Jasons? Would you go so far as to say there are a "Bunch" of Jasons?

...

Yeah, I said it. :duel_yes_

Its going to be a free for all as all 3 Simon's compete against one another WITHOUT using any cards that are restricted to 1 on the forbidden list. It will be a round robin competition to see who gains the #1 position.

Time to Chazz it up!!!

That does it...IT'S CLOBBERIN' TIME!!!

(and yes, I do have 3 cards in my resource row)

What do you call a group of Jasons? A cluster? <smirk> A school? or....if they're all three judging could they be described as a "fodder" for players to chew on? <laffin>....sorry, couldn't resist, I like all the Simons and I know I can tease them a bit....errr...at least I think I can <watching my back>
