"He Said, She Said"
from UDE's Player Management Forums
Hello,
I thought that since this is the Player Management area and we are all here to educate eachother we might be able to discuss something that has been happening. We have been noticing in both WOW and Yu Gi Oh that many times an issue arrises that the players dissagree with something that happened. Many of the times there are ways to figure out what is going on and who is telling the truth but there are times where it is difficult if not impossible to figure out who is telling the truth. We have come up with ways around this but I figured it might be best to talk about this and see if anyone has other ideas too. The more the merrier, especially when it comes to ideas to help the tournaments.
Example of a case:
A judge gets called over to a table with 5 minutes left in the round. Player A called the judge over so he says that they have played 3 games. he won the 1st and 3rd game and Player B is refusing to sign. Player B states that Player A is wrong and they have only played 2 games. Player A says that he won Game 1 and Player B won Game 2. Neither player kept track of points on paper so there is no way to prove.
Now this is the short version of this scenario. But this was a case where neither player could prove their case and there were no witnesses. So what we decided, in case this ever comes up again, is that the best way around this is to figure who would get the most out of the judge favoring the win towards them. In this case it is Player A because they would win the match. So in this case it is up to Player A to prove to us some way that they did play 3 games. If that player is unable to prove his case then the 2 players would need to play the 3rd game.
There have been a few cases like this popping up. I think the idea of proving the case as stated above is very fair and in this case the best way. I was just wondering if anyone else had run into a situation like this before and how did you handle it.
Every situation, of course, needs to be handled differently depending on the situation but I would like to hear about the other things that are happening out there that we, as judges, might be seeing at our events.
