Junior Tournament: Talking - Sanctions
from UDE's Player Management Forums

I judged a junior tournament today (13 years and less). I explained all the rules to the players and the tournament began. In the middle of the first round, I saw a player (wich playing a duel) talking to another player (wich was in bye) I gave them a warning.

The tournament locator said me I didn't give them a warning because they're young, and I don't give no warning and sanction to all young players and I must help them if they have some difficulties with thier cards.

Actually, I like to know what can I do in tournament if I can't give penalities to players and help them (coching) during their duels?

All sanctioned tournaments must follow the guidelines of the sanctioner. While mercy is encouraged for younger players, remember that the penalty guildlines are in themselves a teaching instrument. We would not want to raise a generation of players who disregard the rules, do we. While they may not appreciate the penalty when given, they will respect you, the opponent and the game better for it. Mercy in justice, must have the justice in which to show the mercy. And justice for all equally.
