Update to Tournament Policy for Appendix A: Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG
from UDE's Player Management Forums
Effective immediately, UDE has made a small but relevant change to the Official Tournament Policy Document for Appendix A: Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG

Previously, there was a contradiction between the UDE Official Tournament Policy and the Yu-Gi-Oh! Tournament Policy concerning whether a player is allowed to side deck after Game 1 if Game 1 never got played due to a player receiving a penalty (such as a game loss after a deck check). The UDE Policy Document states that neither player would be allowed to side deck in this case. However, the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Policies in Appendix A stated a player could side deck after Game 1.

In an effort to be more consistent, and because a player shouldn't know what type of deck his or her opponent is using if a game has not been played, we have updated Section A-11 of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Policy Document to bring it in line with the Official UDE Tournament Policy.

Effective immediately, if a player receives a penalty, the result of which is Game 1 of a best 2-out-of-3 not being played, neither player may access the side deck before the start of Game 2. Game 2 will be played with both decks in their original state.

As always, the official Tournament Policy documents can be found at www.ude.com/policy.
