    Konami references in cards.

An interesting thing about some cards is that the pics pay homage to other creations of Konami. Gradius/Vic Viper and Option are the most obvious ones. And everyone knows that the Gradius games also have Cyclon Laser, The Statue of Easter Island, and Big Core :) Tactical Espionage Expert. Do I...

    Official Cyber Stein Thread

I don't believe this! Everyone, I've got big news. It turns out the Cyber-Stein on the auction is actually a fake and the real one has been hidden somewhere! ...Ok, so that's not really true :)

Hypothetical question related to how Jinzo and Skill Drain work.

Well, to make it clearer, let's say Skill Drain is a Field Spell Card (still the same effect) and the monster in question is Spell Canceller. If Spell Canceller is on the field first, then Skill Drain can't be activated. But if Skill Drain is on the field first, Spell Canceller's effect should...

Hypothetical question related to how Jinzo and Skill Drain work.

With Skill Drain in play, Jinzo's effect of negating Trap Cards will be negated when it's summoned since Skill Drain is a continuous Trap and takes precedence over Jinzo's effect in that case. This brings up a point about Equip and Field Spell cards. While they're not continuous as far as card...

    Giant Orc vs. Magic Cylinder

If Magic Cylinder stops an attack from Giant Orc, does it still go to Defense Position?

Regarding Harpie Lady Sisters and Mask of Dispel.

Helpoemer and The Creator (plus Dark Ruler Ha Des) could be Special Summoned from the "Different Dimension", though, so they're not entirely nomi monsters. And the term "nomi" means "only" in Japanese, so that might have something to do with it (although it also means "flea" and "chisel" :)

    Bottomless Trap Hole

    1) Since Book of Moon flipped the monster face-down, Bottomless Trap Hole is no longer able to tell the ATK of the monster. 2) Card wording; what can you do. But a good example is all 3 Magnet Warriors being Special Summoned by the effect of Valkyrion. Beta and Gamma would be destroyed and...

Regarding Harpie Lady Sisters and Mask of Dispel.

Harpie Lady Sisters is not supposed to be a Nomi monster, right? (The updated text has "except by" in it). As for Mask of Dispel, when it first came out the description said the controller of the targeted Spell Card takes damage during his/her Standby Phase. It was later changed to say it's...

A good point to keep in mind concerning costs.

I'm sure most of us know enough about how costs work, anyway, but this makes things simple so it's good for beginners and refreshing your memory. A cost, per se, is not part of a card's effect; it's merely what starts the effect or keeps it in play. Makes sense, obviously. When Premature...

Electric Snake and Mask of Dispel. Mistakes in the errata, itself?

The updated text for Electric Snake does not say "you can draw 2 cards from your deck", making the effect mandatory instead of optional. But the description on the Japanese version makes it optional. And for Mask of Dispel, the Japanese version says it does damage during the opponent's Standby...

All questions about Priority come here first...

One little mistake in that. If, say, Ring of Destruction is activated on Breaker after it's summoned, the damage will be 1600 since the placing of the counter has not resolved. If I'm not mistaken, whenever you have priority to use a card effect, it's because the effect is optional. Since the...

    Question on chess monsters.

*Runs it through Babelfish* If hell pawn daemon "and so on continues to exist, it becomes necessary to continue to pay the life point which is appointed, but when it is under pointing where the life point of the control prayer is appointed, without paying the life point," hell pawn daemon "and...

The Legendary Fisherman vs. A Legendary Ocean

That's essentially because there's nothing saying your opponent can't attack at all, unlike some card effects which specify limits in attacking, correct?

    Priority And which monsters?

Simply put, as far as I've been able to tell, if you summon a monster with an optional effect that can be activated immediately without having to do anything else (place a counter, wait until a later phase or your opponent's turn, etc.), you have priority to activate that monster's effect...

    Airknight Parshath vs. Fiber Jar.

Which brings up an interesting question. In casual dueling, your opponent probably wouldn't mind if you skipped drawing a card because of the end result. But in tourneys, you would still have to draw for the sake of having to legally carry out Airknight's effect, right?

    Airknight Parshath vs. Fiber Jar.

The ARRJ says that if Airknight attacks Fiber Jar and inflicts damage, the controller of Airknight draws a card and then Fiber Jar's effect is activated. I thought the case had always been that a chain occurs in which Fiber Jar's effect activates first. Then after that's resolved, the controller...

Easy way of remembering if cards can be activated in the Damage Step?

If I'm correct on this, no non-counter trap card can be activated in the Damage Step unless the card description says you can, right?
