3. You can activate "Premature Burial" to Special Summon this card from the Graveyard, and then this card's effect will negate and destroy "Premature Burial". "Freed the Matchless General" will not be destroyed since the effect of "Premature Burial" was negated by his effect.
Like novastar said, Impenetrable Formation is continuous, so it seem to me it would just sit there watching the selected card and waiting to kick in. If/when the card comes into face-up defense position and there is at least one other defense position monster on it's side, the DEF goes up by...
That's what it says in the latest version of the rulebook.
It's back up on the FAQ section:
"Costs are paid before activation. So to activate "Seven Tools of the Bandit", or the effect of "Cannon Soldier", or play "Premature Burial", you pay the Life Points or Tribute the monster before you...
I would have said you were right to say this, until today. Now I wonder . . .
The only activation requirement for Impenetrable Formation is for the player to "select 1 monster" on their side of the field. Could be face-up, could be face-down. The effect only becomes active when there are two...
I know there are some strange rulings in this game, but I just can't believe this would ever be ruled this way. (I'll keep my recipe for Fricasse Crow handy just in case I need it).
I would say that because Soul Exchange can not be used to switch the tribute for Exiled Force, the effect of Soul...
Sorry, I missed the early part of the thread. My bad.
I disagree with this. I think the way Exiled Force is written precludes tributing another card at all.
And that's not what Exiled Force does, so I don't see how you could justify using Soul Exchange to do this.
Exactly. It does not mean...
My point is that Pineapple Blast can not be activated in response to any "successful normal summon" because it is restricted to "your" normal summon. It is not the same as Trap Hole/Bottomless Trap Hole.
My point is that you are allowed to activate it first because its effect says you can...
There is a real difference between ""You can only activate this card when you Normal Summon a monster successfully." and "This card can only be activated when a monster is Normal Summoned."
I have to disagree with this extrapolation. The timing for Pineapple Blast is not "a successful normal summon" it is "You can only activate this card when you Normal Summon a monster successfully." I believe it is the effect of Pineapple Blast that allows it to go first on the chain before Trap...
Is this correct? I thought priority only applied to effects already active on the field. This is from Michael Palmer's version 2.0 article on priority:
I agree with Michael here and I don't think the turn player can use priority to activate Spell or Trap cards until after the opponent has the...
I think it is because a flipped Cyber Jar summons all the monsters at once, but the two VLords resolve in a chain. BTH would miss the timing on the first VLord but could get the second. That's how I see it, anyway.
I think you may have just explained why EF is negated by Anubis. According to this, EF would not be "fully activated" until it is tributed, at which point it is in the graveyard.
Could it be that "activation" is in fact a multi-step process for cards that target and/or have costs and they...
Thanks, Dillie-O and DimensionalWarrior for the quick responses.
This brings up another quesstion (laffs at autolinker):
Face up on my side of the field, Royal Magical Library with 2 spell counters and Skilled Dark Magician with 1 spell counter. Can I move the 2 spell counters from RML to SDM...
Would you please explain why this is not a cost for this card? Are there other similar cards that appear to be costs but are actually effects? How are they recognized as such?
Just reading this card, I would have been 100% sure this was a cost. I searched the UDE FAQ, Judge's List, ARRJ, and...
If Pitch Black Power Stone is face up and is down to 1 counter with Skilled Dark Magician face up with 2 counters and SDM is turned face down by Book of Moon, can the counters be put back on the Power Stone or do they Disappear? I say they Disappear, but need to check.
