BTH being activated after TP announces he wants to proceed to BP

I'm confused...what advantage does the Turn player get by "head faking" a pass of priority after declaring an attack. The attack's already declared, they can respond to effects played by their opponent, and they can save ATK/DEF boosters for the Damage step.

BTH being activated after TP announces he wants to proceed to BP

Four pages, and no one's brought up Tactical Espionage Expert, Invasion of Flames, Eagle Eye, or Creeping Doom Manta. I'm disappointed.

BTH being activated after TP announces he wants to proceed to BP

Without being able to read both players' minds, the only thing I could do in a situation like that is talk to both players and then make a ruling based on what they said. It's a judgement call, and why head judges make the big bucks.

    Free

Preventable, and chainable to. I like the idea, especially in the recovery phase. On the other hand, the Hourmen aren't that great, especially if you don't stun your opponent's entire board on your initiative. Then you have an underpowered character as a sitting duck.

    Fairy Power!!

I wouldn't risk Luminous Spark, 2600 ATK Cyber Dragons could become a problem. If you go with Creature Swap, then throw in a couple of Thunder Nyan Nyan. She's good early power, and they usually won't be able to Brain Control or Snatch Steal her, and if you Swap it to them, she'll usually be...

The greatest guy I ever played....

I don't remember any YGO players off hand, but everybody I played at $10K Austin was just great to play against. Handshakes before and after every game, we complimented each other on good plays, discussed tech after each match, and wished each other luck going into the next round. It's why I...

    DC Modern

I like the Modern Age tournaments. It's interesting to see what happens with a more limited card pool. Granted, DCMA was pretty much all GLEE, but MMA had 4 viable decks and a couple of fringe decks, and I think DCMA will have that kind of variety too. CVU will be popular, although the lack...

    DC Modern

I think Checkmate will be the team to beat, although they'll be teamed up with a few other teams. Checkmate/Villains United that TAWC ran at San Fran doesn't lose too much going into modern, and I'm having some good results with Checkmate/JSA. Backup powers aren't bad when you have a Rock of...

    2006 GBA Nationals

Yeah, I'm looking forward to the trip too, if just to see Comic-Con for myself. I'm still a long way from unlocking the cards I need to build something viable for July, especially since buying singles on there is so hard to do. I'm definitely looking forward to getting to use the OCG cards...

    2006 GBA Nationals

Congrats to your son then! I haven't gotten anything yet either, Janice said that if it's not there by the 12th, to call her. Here's the link to the code for the most recent restricted list: http://www.tournament2006.com/display.cfm?text_id=26 Good luck, and I'll see both of you next month.

Ban List updated (effective July 1st)

My only guess is that UDE spent the days between the PC and the announcement making decks to test out possible errata...my guess is that this will lead to a general nerfing of future sets. Not too bad of a nerfing, just to keep an eye on things like discard effects and loops and such. Justin...

    nationals...????? huh???

Well, the skinny guy with the shaggy dark hair would be Jerome. The heavyset guy with short dark hair is Ben, who may have been typing stuff, but who doesn't actually cover Yugioh.

    nationals...????? huh???

In general, your point has merit. In specific, it doesn't, because the Metagame writers all have Yugioh experience. Help us out, describe the person you talked to in Houston.

Yeah, I'm just going to roll with it and hope for the best.

    2006 GBA Nationals

It's the same as the April 1st list, plus the Japanese cards. They gave us a link to a code so the game would conform to the new list too...not that it stops the computer players from ripping Pot of greed on me :(

    2006 GBA Nationals

There's got to be at least a couple of COGs who made Top 16 for this. I managed to qualify, so I'll be at Comic Con in July to hopefully play my way to Tokyo and represent COG (and Team Sweet Biscuits). Did anyone else make it in? The only drawback is that I haven't played the game much, so...

    nationals...????? huh???

The two Metagame folks at Houston were Jerome McHale and Mary Van Tyne. Mary doesn't play YGO, but she's also an editor and uploader, not a writer. Jerome plays and still writes articles on YGO gameplay for Metagame. The only other person that was there who wasn't "local staff" was Ben Drago...

Hold on a sec ... is THAT a Nationals prize card?

Now I'll have to redouble my efforts to win a National Championship, just so I can hold up my game winning card...Peten the Dark Clown.

Shonen Jump July 15th Arlington Texas!!

It's only 130 cards, and it's actually probably going to be trimmed down soon...to a robust 115 or so. I may actually post the decklist in the deck forum once I get the next set of cuts done, then everyone can see my madness.
