A very strange Phoenix deck...

I had this weird thought for a deck idea last night, and again probably too much going on in one deck, but...

{1} Phoenix
{3} Des Frog

{3} Gaia Soul the Combustible Collective
{3} Solar Flare Dragon
{3} T.A.D.P.O.L.E.
{2} Apprentice Magician
{2} Hand of Nephytis
{1} Old Vindictive Magician
{2} UFO Turtle

{2} Des Croaking
{2} Creature Swap

{1} Scapegoat
{1} Dark Hole
{3} Messenger of Peace / {3} The Dark Door (I don't have MoP)
{1} SORL
{3} Hammer Shot
{1} Snatch Steal
{2} Level Limit Area B


{3} Elemental Fire Art --> Combine with Gaia Soul, Solar Flare Dragon...Attack with Gaia Soul, use this before it's destroyed...summon Solar Flare, use this for 2000 damage....
{2} Elemental Water Art ----> for the frogs.
{2} Sakuretsu Armor


I need help developing this idea...I like the notion of Des Frogs and TADPOLES for thinning, and for that massive hit with the Des Croaking...pluse Creature Swap abuse, and the twist with fire...

There's something to this idea, but I just can't pin it down...I'm hoping someone here will have that insight. Thanks in advance!

Also, just had another though with Gaia Soul:

Summon Gaia Soul with a Solar Flare, etc on the field...tribute the Solar Flare after the damage is done, Gaia Soul goes to 3000 attack, use Elemental Fire....hmm...
 
what about dropping one Messenger/ The Dark Door ... drop 1 Hammer Shot, and Metamorphasis.... Put in 2 Level Limit Area-B.... and Lightning Vortex...

Remove 1 Elemetal Energy Fire and 1 Sakuretsu Armor for either Cold Wave or Giant Trunade....


ok.. my explanatioins.... The Dark Door is way cool, but you may need some more pretection in there, and 2 is sufficiant (same with Messenger of Peace)... and 2 Hammer Shot should be good.... .. Meta...hmm.. not sure what you are using it on without your Fusions... Im sure you have TER... and that could have good synthesis with this deck...
However, the oDDS of Des Croaking getting used may be slim, so you need more help.. Level Limit Area-B and Lightning Vortex should help with that

You have 3 of the Elemental Fire Art, and 3 Sakuretsu Armor... i figure that 2 should be sufficient, and you can make room for Giant Trunade or Cold Wave.... Personally, I think Cold Waves would be cool, but IF you get to use your Des Croaking, you will get jacked... so Giant Trunade would be better... Good for clearing for a good attack..

The Level Limits have great Synergy with Solar Flare Dragons... so does Messenger of Peace.... How
about this.... consider taking out Old Vindictive Magician for Exiled Force.. I know it is searchable with Aprrentice magician but Exiled is much quicker and more useful.....

The only other things I can think of is maybe a Cyber Jar... or even Shallow Grave

Fusions would be normal - Balter, etc. TER would be there.

I really like The Shallow Grave for some reason. I could use it to recall a Gaia Soul, a second Solar Flare...or if I have a Gaia Soul out, use it to bring out another Fire monster to tribute it off via Elemental Fire or Gaia Soul's effect...

Level Limit should go in. I kinda want to abuse Giant Trunade in here...

So:

-1 The Dark Door

+ 1 Giant Trunade

- 1 Sakuretsu Armor

- 1 Metamorphosis

+ Level Limit Area B x2

My Cold Waves (only have 1 unforunately) are going toward my Horus deck, but they might fit here...

I think I want to focus on the Gaia Soul/Solar Flare with Des Croaking as my backup plan. Distract them with those until I bring out the Phoenix...

Exiled Force is probably more versatile.

Any more thoughts? And what about Raging Flame Sprite? Would that work in here at all?

Here's the latest build for my "Soul of the Phoenix" build...and I used the Deck Builder tool, and my draws seemed pretty balanced. I think it has potential.

Also, would Sangan be a better fit than Exiled Force? I don't think Cyber Jar would be a great fit. Maybe Morphing Jar though.... kinda have 1 spot to work with (Breaker's not an option, he's in my Horus deck).

I don't have 3 Smashing Grounds. I do like the suggestion of Mystic Swordsman LV2, however.

As to so many strategies...well, that's who I am. My decks are like that. They seem to work fairly well overall (I am ranked in the top 100 of about 900 or so in my state).

But thanks for the sugggestions though! Keep them coming, I think I want to focus on the Fire/Phoenix/Spiritual Fire Art side of this.
 
Holy hopping monkeys! I just got nailed by an idea! Drop the Hammer Shots, or at least two of them, in favor of Last Will. With the aprrentices, TADPOLES, etc., you could suicide a monster, or kill your own monster that you Creature Swapped to them. Either situation would work. When you sac Hand, that would also trigger Last Will. Maybe cut three Hammers for two Wills and an Enemy Controller (for defense, and to help with Last Will)

That IS a very interesting idea. It would even work with the Spiritual Fire Art. Activate Last Will, summon a Solar Flare, use a Fire Art, get another Solar Flare, use another Fire Art...lol!

It could work. I would also like something else to search for with the Last Wills, however...

Maybe Injection Fairy Lily? Exiled Force? A Hand of Nephtyis?

Though I'd have to try and trade for her...

or maybe, Ultimate Baseball Kid/Raging Flame Sprite...

Unfortunately I don't have an Enemy Controller, and I doubt I'll be able to get one anytime soon...such a hard card to find.

Hmm... I seem to be getting something, yes I believe it's an ultra rare Enemy Controller! Oh, what's this, I also have Exiled Force, not to mention an Ultimate Baseball Kid. Hell, why not throw in Fox Fire? You drop a Last Will, suicide the Fox Fire to bring out a new monster, and Fox Fire will be back in play at the end of turn.

It still needs tweaking, but I think it is more focused. Last Wills combo well with Spiritual Fire Art/Solar Flare Dragon, and The Shallow Grave is there to abuse Solar Flare Dragon even more. Des Frogs are there for swarm and TADPOLES are there for Creature Swap, helping the swarm.
