Well maybe I should post this in the Rules section, but I am just too lazy... oh spare me

Ok back to topic.
Here is the effect of Heavy Mech Support Platform, on Netrep:

Once per turn, during your Main Phase, if you control this monster on the field, you can equip it to a face-up Machine-Type monster on your side of the field as an Equip Spell Card, OR unequip the Union equipment and Special Summon this card in face-up Attack Position. When equipped...

My question is, isn't the effect of ALL union monsters change to

Once per turn, during your Main Phase, if you control this monster on the field, you can equip it to ... on your side of the field as an Equip Card, OR unequip the Union equipment and Special Summon this card in face-up Attack Position. When equipped...

So will the effect of HMSP in Union equipment mode be negated by a Spell Canceller? Or, is HMSP treated really treated as an Equip SPELL card when its effect is activated, unlike every other Union monsters? (Well I have to take into a/c that HMSP has a different "destroyed" effect from all other Union monsters)

There are only two types of Equip Cards since the rules revision two months ago. Equip Trap Cards and Equip Spell Cards. Traps that become Equip Cards after activation become Equip Trap Cards and Monsters that transform into Equip Cards default to Equip Spell Cards.

The phrase "Equip Card" is general term refering to both types of Equips. There is no such thing as "just an Equip Card".

That makes them negatble by Spell Canceller and Imperial Order.

Player A Has "Reflect Bounder" equipped with "Heavy Mech Support Platform" as
an Equip Spell Card. He also has "Imperial Order" active on the Field. Now we
figured that the 500 ATK/DEF Boost doesn't happen...but what about the "If the
Equipped Monster is to be Destroyed, Destroy this Monster instead"? Is it
treated as the Effect Monster's Effect or as a Spell Effect?



Answer:

Union Monsters are Equip Spell Cards while equipped to a monster, thus the
effect comes from an Equip Spell Card. "Imperial Order" will negate their
effects while they are in this state, including their ability to protect
the equipped monster.

It should be added that if Spell Canceler is on the field you can still equip the Union Monster (as it's not an equip. spell card until it's actually equipted) and once it's equipted and Spell Canceler is on the field it can't unequip itself.
