Okay Maruno and barty/Jinzo, please explain to me the flags. I am familiar with the UK's Union Jack flag sported by Maruno. However, the Red Cross/White Field for England (or UK England) is less familiar. Is it similar to our U.S. Flag for the country and others for each state? Like England proper rather than UK en toto?

The Union Jack (the 8-pronged red, white 'n' blue flag) is an amalgamation of the national flags of England (red + on white background), Scotland (white X on blue background) and Ireland (red X on white background).

The Union Jack represents the United Kingdom, which is comprised of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Note that Great Britain refers to something different than the United Kingdom - Great Britain is just England, Scotland and Wales (no Northern Ireland). The United Kingdom is all four countries.

I don't know why Barty64's got two identical flags, though.

sorry but i didn't say goodbye i should of but i forgot to my bad.

oh maruno to answer your question i want a pay rise to 10 pound an hour.

yes i had fun i saw seals in the wild for the first time.

I thought that Ireland's flag was Green, White and Orange. Green to represent the Catholics, Orange for the Protestants and White in the middle for peace between the two. And that they are in the order of their location on the ilse?

Jinzo, I'm sorry...I have soooo jacked your thread. But let's face it...you weren't gone THAT long. If it's any consolation, I love the seals, too. I used to live in Oregon and miss the ocean. All Texas has is miles and miles of nothing but miles and miles. Of course, you live on an island, so I don't imagine the ocean can be that far away. However, I do not envy your your gas (excuse me--petrol) prices. Okay, that's right, you can't exactly call the channel part of the ocean, so realistically, you only have, like, the West side of the island on the ocean, so, yeah, good on ya' for your holiday.

it's ok that you jacked my thread as it was for the purpose of learning about the union jack.
but it was two weeks with out the internet,a home console, sky plus or a dvd player all i had was my laptop and my ds with magical star sign and custom robo arena.
but i did see lots of interesting things like goonhillie the lagest satelitte center in england it's also the place thta received the sattelite t.v broadcast.
my holiday was really good i had lots of fun.

The flag you're thinking of was adopted as the official Irish flag in 1919 around when Ireland gained independence. Before then the unofficial flag was the St Patrick's cross (amongst some others) - the red X on a white background. This flag was the one used to represent Ireland in the Union Flag (which was made when the whole Ireland island was in the United Kingdom).

Although, some people suggest the St Patrick's cross flag was invented just so it could be used as a part of the Union Flag. The history of the flag is sketchy.

I now know more than I ever cared to know about flags.

Cool! Thanks for the history (love that stuff!)

Hmmm, laptop.....satellite......I hear the James Bond theme song playing in the backgroud Jinzo!!
