Blade Knight Clarification

Quick question about Blade Knight's effect.

Blade Knight [Light/4/1600/1000]

"If you have 1 or less cards in your hand, the ATK of this card
on the field is increased by 400 points. Also, if this card is the
only monster on your side of the field, negate the effects of
Flip Effect Monsters destroyed by this card as a result of battle."

My question is about the word ALSO in the effect. Does this mean that for Blade Knight
to be able to negate the effects of flip effect monsters, he has to be the only monster on
your side of the field and you can only have 1 or less cards in your hand? Or is he able to
negate based only on the fact he is the only monster on your side of the field?

This effect has caused me some confusion in the past.

I believe that the "Also" would indicate that these two effects are independent of each other. Otherwise, the word should be "Then" or "Furthermore, if this card is..."

They are 2 independent effects. If you only have one card or less in hand, his attack is 2000.

His second effect occurs regardless of how many cards you hold in your hand, as long as he is the only monster on your side of the field.

1 continous that is constantly looking for you having 1 or less cards and the
2nd continous effect that state that when it is a looner it can beat up flip effect monsters.
