EOJ-JP056 Elemental Absorber a problem to come...

EOJ-JP056
Elemental Absorber
Trap - Continuous
Remove a monster card from your hand from the game. All opponent's monsters with the same main-type as that card, as long as this card is on the field, cannot declare attack.
Rare

This card will came in the next booster, it look quite simple, if you discard a Marauding Captain then Earth Monsters won't be able to attack.

But what would happen if you discard Elemental Mistress Doriado? Will this card create a lock by it self when combined with Elemental Mistress Doriado?

They have already changed the ruling to state her effect is only active while she is on the field, possibly in anticipation of this very question (which is giving them too much credit).

So it's not a bad translation.

Just that skey's coffee wasn't very good this morning. :bouncy_je

And yes, I've messed this up many times before. I wish DMComet would go ahead and change it to Attribute and Type, so idiots like me don't get confused.

Thanks, Master. I didn't know that. I feel like I learned something today. Which is more than can be said for all the Algebra work I just did.

Actually this may very well be the answer to why they changed the Doriado ruling. Like I said in a previous thread it wouldn't have made sense for the original Doriado ruling to be a UDE error. So there had to be a reason why Konami would fundamentally change a card months after release.

wow, how harsh, now i cant tribute her for Silpheed :(
You could never tribute her for Silpheed.

Silpheed's effect requires a cost of one wind monster removed from play out of the graveyard. This is different from a tribute, which ALWAYS involves sending a monster on the field to the graveyard, unless otherwise dictated as per Banisher of the Light.

And yes, I know you knew that. But I'd hate to see someone newer to the game get mixed up.

dont you think you now confused them for stating Banisher of the Light? lol

now you done it... now you will have to write a 5 page essay on how tribute and Banisher of the Light work together.

and by defenition a tribute is a cost of using a object and so on and so forth.

Go jason go and save the world from this madness!! :D

Perhaps it would have been better just to clarify that Tribute ordinarily refers to cards from the field (and/or hand when dealing with Ritual monsters). Though I can't see how anyone who understood Silpheed would have gotten confused by Krazy's post. And bringing Banisher into the discussion was unlikely to keep things clear for those that could have been confused by Krazy's post.

Suffice to say Doriado used to be quite useful in bringing out the Elemental Chaos types, Silpheed, Gigantes, Fenrir, etc. Now she is limited to having her effect on the field so outside of her Fuh-Rin-Ka-Zan trick she only gives a boost to the Element monsters such as Element Valkyrie, Element Doom, Element Saurus, etc.

In other words, she is resoundingly, "useless" as a multipurpose card.
well now it is, before it was really good, it was probably one of the best cheap rituals out there. considering we havent gotten any good rituals in a long time Doriado was like, "man... shes hot!" :D

but now all she is, is a Fuh-Rin-Ka-Zan implosion granade and Elemental Creature power up. Which is wack becuase she could be used in practically any "Chaos" type deck and be usefull other than just a Light Attribute. now its bleh...

Worst part of all this is... the next "multi-attribute" card to possibly come is a fusion which means you can't use Elemental Absorber by discarding it. And we all joked about Doriado being the "Captain Planet" of YuGiOh. Well, Konami just one-upped all of us with the E-Hero version in PP9 in Japan.

Elemental Hero Elixerer
Light/Warrior
Level 10
ATK 2900/DEF 2600
Elemental Hero Avian + Elemental Hero Burstinatrix + Elemental Hero Clayman + Elemental Hero Bubbleman
This card can only be Special Summoned by Fusion. The attribute of this card is also treated as Wind, Water, Fire, and Earth. When this card is Fusion Summoned successfully, return all cards that are removed from play to their respective owner's Deck. The Deck is then shuffled. Increase the ATK of this card by 300 pts for each face-up monster on the opponent's side of the field with the same Attribute as Elixerer.

(Info from http://www.janime.info/Genex/cards.html)

He is the main reason to run Miracle Fusion in the first place, although his purpose was to serve as some situational monster that Jaden uses to win the duel against the Alchemy Deck that was basically crazy as heck. I just feel like each time Konami does something like this it makes me less and less likely to play Yu-Gi-Oh!. Seriously, as if anyone is using Elemental Mistress Doriado in a broken competitive way. They allowed Fuh-Rin-Ka-Zan to work with her, and yet they could not allow a new card they made without any thought to a past card made so the now the past card is considered too broken because of the new card. As if wasting Deck Space for 3 Doriado and 3 Elemental Absorber was going to be broken.
