Flaming Eternity tournament legal

Has anyone seen an official date that Flaming Eternity is tournament legal? I thought it was when it was released in the stores. I did not know if this meant after the pre-release or when it showed up in the Wal-Marts and such.

Unless its a Promo, the Legal date has been set for the 1st of the next month the Booster was released.

Example:

For sale "everywhere" in Stores March, legal April 1st.

I double checked this for myself, as I was thinking about going to a tournament in a couple of weeks, in UDE's policies page:

Upcoming dates for card set legality:
"¢ Dark Beginnings 1 (both reprinted and new cards) becomes tournament legal
on release.
"¢ Rise of Destiny becomes tournament legal on December 1, 2004
"¢ Flaming Eternity becomes tournament legal on April 1, 2005

Cranium X. Could you give me a link to where you found that date. Thanks alot.

Never mind. Ifound it in the policy documents where you said. I just need to look more closely at what you said.

It's no problem. I was pretty sure I had saw the date listed before somewhere, so I went and did a search after getting back from the Sneak Preview event to double check for myself, 'cause if not, my friend and I had some plans for the upcoming regionals, specifically for Good Goblin Housekeeping. Alas, that won't happen, but it was a thought. ;)

I thought I has seen it also, but could not remember where. I needed to know so I can post it at the local tournamnet I run. We had 10-15 goto the various pre-leases this past weekend, and I just know some of them will have those cards in their decks for tomorrow nights event. Looks like a long night of deck checks. Thanks again.

Say it ain't so

You mean to tell me I'm gonna have these cards in my hand for nearly a month before I can start using them? Are we 100% sure about this?

Why would they make us wait until April to use them when they become available in the first week of March? Is it because of the new ban list that starts April 1st, and some of the cards from this set being on it?

Maybe this is UDE's idea of an April Fool's joke. I'm not laughing.

You can use them... Just not in tournaments
One of the local groups want me to run a tournament for them that weekend, I'm going to have to get some serious playtesting of some of those cards in before then. Eeep! :(
Just glad UDE have already made rulings available for the cards. :)

I think there are two reasons why it's not legal until the first of the month after it's released:

1) As you said, to make sure they give Konami enough time to give them an updated Forbidden/Limited List if necessary. I think after the ramapnt abuses of Yata-Garasu and Chaos Emperor Dragon almost immediately after their respective releases UDE changed their policy on when new sets would be tournament legal.

2) Fairness.

A) It's not fair that someone who buys there individual cards via eBay through express delivery and gets his cards the day of a big tournament gets to use his new cards while a little kid/budget player has to wait 2-4 weeks for his store to get boosters.

B) Not every player knows the new cards and new rulings right off the bat. That 1-month period gives UDE time to make sure rulings are correct for cards and that people have a chance to catch the new card texts (you know how show-offy people are about their "cool new Deck Devastation Virus" or "the Lightning Vortex that will kick you-know-what.") and prepare strategies to counter them.

At least by delaying the tournament legal date by 1 month it gives EVERYONE a fair chance to get/have a chance at getting the cards they need out of the new set.
