One problem I run into when deck building, and I'm sure this applies to plenty of others, is that I put too much thought into what restricted cards I should add. That's only natural, of course, as those cards are what often give our decks the best advantage. But I'd like to think more about the cards that are not restricted. I've said before that there are plenty of cards that often get overlooked. Not using restricted cards is a good way to give other cards more notice.
Even without restricted cards, there are still more than enough cards to choose from (Note that the following doesn't take Exchange of the Spirit into account and still allows Exodia to be played).
1768 cards in total
-23 Forbidden Cards
1745
-40 Limited Cards
1705
-10 Semi-Limited Cards
1695
Other unplayable cards:
1. Anti Raigeki
2. Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon (Unless another card is used as a proxy for BEUD in casual duels)
3. Call of the Grave
4. Gryphon Wing
5. Jar Robber
6. Primal Seed
7. White Hole
1688
XeroCreative used to have a method of dueling called Kage Style. In this form, no Limited Cards except the Exodia pieces can be used, and Semi-Limited cards are restricted to 1. So there's that if you'd still prefer to use Semi-Limited cards.
Hmm...maybe we should try "sans restricted cards" or Kage Style for a YVD tourney in the future.
