Negating Summons

Incidentally, the ONLY way for a Summon to NOT be successful is for it to be negated. Currently, these are the only cards capable of negating a Summon (if I've forgotten something, feel free to let me know):

Horn of Heaven (Counter Trap Card)
Solemn Judgment (Counter Trap Card)
Royal Oppression (Continuous Trap Card)

"Royal Opression" only works again Special Summons though. And as far as I recall, those are the only 3 currently in the game that can do that.

Re: Mobius the frost monarch effect...

Yeah, I wasn't being specific enough to explain the type of Summons negated.

Otherwise, I would've pointed out that "Horn of Heaven" can only be used against Special Summon effects that are generated by the monster itself (such as "The Fiend Megacyber"), and cannot be used against Special Summons that happen as the result of an outside effect ("Monster Reborn," "Premature Burial," "Call of the Haunted," etc.).

Re: Mobius the frost monarch effect...

(I'll break this off on a new thread in a moment).

But, "Solemn Judgment" could also be used to negate the "Monster Reborn", "Premature Burial", etc.

"Horn of Heaven" can only negate the Summon, and not effects of cards that Special Summon a monster to the field

The reasoning (if I'm not mistaken) is because the effect is resolving when the monster is brought to the field and we cannot activate a card in the middle of a resolution.

That would mean that searchers like "Mystic Tomato" and "Shining Angel" can't have the the monster they special summon negated by either since it's an effect that is resolving. ("Divine Wrath" on the other hand could have something to say about these 2).

"Royal Oppression" has the wording though to negate the special summon or the card that can special summon a monster (all for a mere 800 Life Points and also the Opponent can use the effect as well).

That about it? :D

yeap preaty much.

Devine wrath is a 6 arm B!tch slappin Goddess - quote from that one show

lol

but yea, its crazy how only 3 cards exist that can man handle some form of somening yet people tend to say that Trap hole or Bottomless leads to unsuccessfull summons.

its sad.
