So today was my first regional ever and I was to say the least pysched as ever. Lol, having not played alot in local events and only playing once a month until this month, I didnt get alot of real consectutive practice. But this month was totaly different- I played every weekend and did great out of all of my games played I went 9-4 in matches... so I decided to up it up a little and take a chance at regionals....
When I got there I hurried to pay the rest of dues and get out of the freezing cold. After getting warm, I met up with my friends Brian Long and Brent Yetter who were as always yelling and being *sigh* kids. So after waiting and the first round being delayed about 30 mins and an extra 50 people comming in. ( there were about 200 people at this thing) The first matches get posted.... and my worst fear came true.. my first match was against Brian Long..Haha I think thats what I get for playing him before hand and making fun of my boyfriend who had to play him 1st round (and lost of course) at the Sneak Preview Constructed tournament.... It was a fun match since we are friends but I lost 0-2, but I did better then most keeping him off as long as possible. Second game I ended up side decking in a Bazoo and a few Wabokus which did help... just not enough... After playing, Brian was going to scoop to help me to get into Nationals, but after realizing that I wasnt going to go, even if I did get an invite, he opted not too. Totaly fun game with a few minor mistakes on my part which Brian showed me after what I did wrong....
Second round I get paired with some kid that just cant play. It was an easy win but honestly no challenge what so ever. Lol, I was so bored I didnt even realize the kid had 6 monsters on the field till the judge woke me up out of my daze and gave the kid a warning.. meh, I didnt care. Then when I start shuffling his deck I realize how small it is and after counting the cards it turns out hes 10 cards short...... His dad having counted the cards bfore the tournament said there was 40 before which means someone swiped 10 of his cards..Thats horrible that someone would do such a thing.. I felt really bad for the kid. I went 2-0, but not with any suprise.
The third round I ended up playing Velius actualy, haha it was a fun game and honestly wish I hadnt helped him with his deck, but he did well which help me in my tie breakers. I ended up losing to him 1-2.. I got just really bad opening draws which just wasnt fun for me, and it was just a long and painful match.lol
Fourth round I ended up owning this kid 2 games to 0 but it took FOREVER doing so. It got to the point that we were the last ones still playing in the room and people were just watching us. Thank god Ive gotten used to being watched as I play but I do have a tendency to yell at people if they start talking loudly.... you know- respect? The guy was playing Return from a different dimension- can you say Wab., Exarion Universe and Bazoo the Soul-Eater??? Thats what I side decked in my second and third games
The fifth round I played some kid that put down a tournament mat and was like I went top 8 at Bluebell regionals in PA... my reaction- woop de doo.. I wasnt happy still after losing again to Velius. lol, so I didnt care. But honestly his "intimidation mat" as I like to call it was all it was... all show. I bet this guy hard core and felt like asking him " how did you win the PA regionals?" He was uber bad... I went 2-0, which made me feel alot better.
sixth round I played some annoying kid that just kept acting and treating like I was a noob and said to me afterwards... Good game but you need work alot more to get better. Truth was the guy wasnt any better then me if not worse. I almost gave the guy the middle finger but restrained myself. My friends on the other hand didnot control themselves and told him to STFU and said something to him about his attitude... I lost 1-2 meh it was challenging, I guess, when your playing against a net deck.
Seventh round I played this guy that was like " I just want to scoop to you and get it over with" I just kinda looked at him, satd down and we started playing... This was my favorite game of all cuz I was really getting into it and was doing a great job. Haven gotten my confidense back I started actually getting him to do what I wanted in the duel which was so much fun... By the end of the match we were sorrounded by people everyone just watching us and all of them knowing me went crazy when after I set Heavy Storm for a turn fliped it over on my next turn and blew away his filed. I then summon Bazoo the Soul-Eater and just nailing him head on, removing three monsters like usual and I did this not once but TWICE!!!... I went 2-0 in this match. Then the guy being mad because he lost to a girl and everyone made fun of him about it, started telling people I cheated... Poor sport?? Maybe he was ticked cuz some girl whos obsessed with pink.. If you saw me youd understand. I have a pink ipod, pink calculator, pin ink pen, pink pad, and pink shirt/ shoes today. I also played the ditz too. But lol, I mean honestly if I were to cheat Id have done better then 4-3. lol
Over all I went 4-3 which for me was good. I got 42nd out of 200 people and for not playing hardly at all Im proud of myself. I got a tournament pack which was cool but nothing good was pulled just some bad fusions..... Lol it was fun, I was a grouchy at times and very strict about the rules... people trying to side deck in when they didnt declaire and play fusions they didnt declaire... Its a big deal to me and honestly I do it every game. Haha funny thing is no one argued with me when I was like "you didnt declair- so you cant use it" as one of the guys said Im a sweetie but no one messes with me and tries to pull one over me. lol
Oh and congrates to Velius... who went 4-3 as well.... It was his first regionals too!!!
