1) During Main Phase 1, Player A activates a CoTH that had been set for one turn and special summons DDWL.

2) Player B, responds with Royal Decree and asks Player A if they want to respond.

3) Player A does not respond.

4) Player B then activates CoTH as a response to their own Royal Decree and special summons Jinzo.

I understand that CoTH/Jinzo in response to any trap card negates that trap card and all the trap cards below it in a chain -- but, would Royal Decree remain on the field? Or, would it be removed because the activation was negated?

I thought Player A's CoTH and Player B's Royal Decree would be removed from the field because their activation was negated, however Player B's COTH would remain on the field meaninglessly.

Was this correct?

Also, why player B activated Royal Decree when CoTH/Jinzo would have countered Player A's CoTH fine was beyond me.

The Royal Decree would remain on the field meaningless, being that the effect of Royal Decree is continuous, and Jinzo only negates when he is face-up on the field, but does not destroy them.

Note that if Jinzo leaves the field (or is turned face-down), Royal Decree would 'kick in' immediately. As for why a player would want to do that chain as it was, it is basically insurance in case Jinzo is taken out.

Their activations were NOT negated. Their EFFECTS were. BIIIIIIIIIIG difference.

Since they are continuous traps, they stay on the field meaninglessly.
