Player drinking alcohol while playing
from UDE's Player Management Forums

Hi,
I cant seem to figure out what to do when a player brings a beer to a sanctioned tournament and drinks it while playing.

He drank at least 2, maybe more, you could spot he acted a bit 'different', but on the other hand he didnt cause any major disruptions to the game. He was just probably a little more noisy than the average player, and was a bit 'uncomfortable' opponent to play against.

Is there any tournament policy handling this? It would seem to me he wouldnt be allowed to play, but this happened at a realm championship event and he played 6 rounds like this, only missing top8 in the last round.

Thanks.

There is a rule about being Intoxicated in the PM's but as for drinking....If there are children present, then you certainly want to ask him to not drink in their presence, and rightfully so. I guess the question is, How "family oriented" are Realms? Our standard is to keep things PG-13, which includes a no alcohol in the tournament area. Obviously no food or drinks should be allowed at the table anyway to avoid damaging the venue and the cards, anyway.
