Today's Judge's Decision

In a tournament today I was late in sitting where my opponent was, 2 minutes and 15 seconds late to be exact (so 45 more seconds, and I would of gotten a Game Loss for being late), but then I realized I forgot to Side back, so I started doing that, but it took me more than 45 seconds. My opponent then called the Head Judge who said "the rules say you have to Side back before dueling you opponent", and gave me a Game Loss for being late. Was this correct?
