Ptera Thrash OTK!!

Now here's a reason to ban Black Ptera:

Now, this deck works alright, the only proble is the ultimate offering, it has to come out faster! Alson Jinzo and Parshath can really wreck the game too. I was thinking about adding 'Cat of ill omen' but I'm not sure, so any advice would be really welcome :p
 
Not to mention that you have to out last your opponent's life points in order to continue summoning Black Ptera. I dont know if its worth it to keep paying to summon a monster just to decrease his and your life points at the same time.


I see this as a "late game" trick, after you have played a few Burn Effects, like Meteor of Destruction and Tremendous Fire or something. Having a Dark Room of Nightmare can't hurt either, if you do decide to go the Ultimate Offering route anyway. At least you'll be doing 800 damage instead of 500.
 
Yeah I know, I'm still working on it, but once I get the combo going, I'll just keep going until both me and my opponent are at 500LP each, then instead of summoning black ptera I'll just sacrifice cannon soldier himself. Anyway I'm now using mysterious puppeteer, since he's a warrior, I can just reinforce him out of my deck, also a 2nd spirit reaper might come in handy though. But thnx for the comments :)
 
If your main strategy is to deal damage with Cannon soldier, you should probably include scapegoats.
You may also want to include a Mysterious Puppeteer or three in there as well, to offset ultimate offering's cost.
 
The scapegoats I addes just yesterday :) . As for the mysterious puppeteers, I playtested them and truth be told, they don't work as well as I'd expect, instead I added cards like waboku, threatening roar,... and other stall cards so I can get the combo out. The only remaining problem is the ultimate offering, I have to get it out faster but I don't really know how, any advice on that?

Different Dimension Capsule and Judgment of Anubis or Magic Reflector to protect it.
 
the only thing i can think of is the cat of ill omen or magical merchant and i would go with the cat cuz of the no chance of hurting u bad like merchant
 
mm, The mask may prove convenient when i'm out of offerings. It could be a better pick then cat since it only allows me to bring offering to the top of my deck, and if jinzo happens to come out that same turn, I'll have no use for my draw phase. Still, I'll give both of them a try, when i get the deck going properly , I'll post the deck list :)

mm, that maybe a good option, I'll give it a go, but according to the rumors, the card text of cannon soldier will probably be rewritten to make its effect a cost, wich would make the ptera combo a bit more difficult:(
 
Yeah i'll probably add mass driver 3 times, only to search it out with magical merchant, otherwise I've noticed the deck described in the metagame article has little drawpower or alot of search engines, and like i said earlier, the puppeteers seemed like a good go, but when it comes to playing them, its really no go. Anyway, i'll be making some adjustments and then post the improved decklist soon, so stay tuned :p
 
Great, now that ultimate offering has been restricted to just one copy per deck, the ptera otk, will probably be no go :(
 
well now crossout is down to one so u can still try to get it out with something like the cat of ill omen but it will take like 2 more turns to win
 
Well I tried but its allways the same problem: PLenty of cannons en ptera's but often either NO offering or it pops up way to late even WITH cat of ill omen. It went somewhat better with magical merchant but not good enough. Well I expected they would do something to go ptera otk :)
 
Yeah, 1x Ultimate Offering did killed this deck design. I guess they realised the abusiveness of it.

Kinda like 1x Future Fusion killed Chimera OTK decks. Yes, you CAN add 3x Merchants, Morphing, Card Destruction to TRY to get Future Fusion... but yeah, not good enough usually.
