If i remove 5 or less monsters in my graveyard from play with SOUL RELEASE could i activate DIMENSION FUSION or RETURN FROM THE DIFFERENT DIMENSION to special summon them to the field? Because i noticed on the card it says "Remove from the current duel", is being removed from the current duel and being removed from play two different things?

Removed is removed. It is the same thing.
Keep in mind that you can only Special Summon Monsters that do not have any restrictions on their summoning-ness (is that a word?) For example, you cannot Special Summon Spirit Monsters, or Dark Necrofear (if not summoned properly) in the method you described.

like somewan stated, removed is removed.
there is yet a 3rd form of removal.
so far we only have 2, graveyard, and out of play. if we ever get a 3rd then the cards will be a bit more specific on from were you can summon the certain monsters.
remember that you can only bring back monsters that have been paid for and that can normally be special summoned.
normal monsters,
special summon monsters that have been paid for,
effect monsters that cant return from the gravyard because it specificially states it cannot be specialed summoned from the graveyard.
