OK, the text for Royal Keeper is
"You can flip this card into face-down Defense Position once per turn during your Main Phase. When this card is flipped face-up, increase the ATK and DEF of this card by 300 points until the end of the turn that this card is flipped face-up."
One ruling for this card is the following:
"When a face-down "Royal Keeper" is attacked and flipped face-up, its +300 ATK effect is applied AFTER damage calculation."
I need an answer because my son's friend disagrees with me. I attacked his face down Royal Keeper with Gemini Elf. Because the effect is applied after damage calculation, Gemini's 1900 ATK beats Royal Keeper's 1700 DEF, and Royal Keeper is destroyed. Had I attacked with a 1700 ATK monster, I would not receive any damage because, again, the effect is not applied until after damage calculation. As it states on Netrepâ„¢, the effect is not a Flip Effect. I think if a few more people chime in, we can settle this.
