Sacred Pheonix's effect...

Hello all,

O.k, if I Card Destruction sacred pheonix can he still come out in that way? Or if my opponent does. Also if someone Heavy Storms and I have my pheonix in the graveyard can I chain call and bring him out on my standby. Upperdeck was very, very, clear on the situations. But, I'm looking for the more common situations. Situations that are most likely to happen. Does his effect activate from Drop Off? He was never on the field but he was sent to the graveyard due to effect. Most likely it will be the ovious things like. Exile, and premature and Call of the Haunted disruption. But what other common things can I look out for? I'm really looking for all situations, even if you get creative as long as they're right... Thankyou in advance. Since he's so new we may sometiems overlook his full potential..

Card Destruction and Drop Off discard cards, they do not destroy, so no reviving there.

If your opponent activates Heavy Storm you can chain call to summon Phoenix, as soon as she arrives on the field Heavy Storm will resolve, destroying Call of the Haunted, which in turn destroys Phoenix. since she was destroyed, she WILL come back during your text standby phase.

The basic rule is, if phoenix is sent to the graveyard by an effect that explicitly uses the word "Destroy" she will come back.

reguarding the pheonix

thanx for the insight, yeah it was basically the obvious situations. You have any more creative idea's for any use on him/her? Question I noticed you said she, are all pheonix's girls? If so, hmmm nice to know.... If not, could've just been whatever you wAnted it to be. Reguardless of this part of the conversation, thankhyou....

Now, this is something upperdeck didn't really get in to. Tributing, (hmmmmm), I don't really understand this part. I do understand it, but my pheonix is a lot different than Vampire Lord. Why? on so many levels. But, if someone tributes my monter do I get it's effect? I actually shouldn't but you never know after the tribe infecting virus incident. I know now to expect almost anything from upperdeck. Tribe still get priority after being bottomlessed and Trap Holed. But, alright basically it comes back after, Smashing Ground, Fissure, stomping ground, Exiled Force, baseball kid, cannon soilder, call of the hAnted, pre-mature burial, Dark Hole, Raigeki, choas end, cyber, Acid Trap Hole, etc. My true Question to everyone is what else is they're that I'm missing? Also, does Trap Hole stop it? I know Divine Wrath does which really doesn't make sense in a way... Does bottomless stop his secondary effect? Because on arrival he destroys the spell/trap zones I know it's chainable but can you still bottomless him? Kinda confusion on that part.... I know there's someone in some dark room thinking about combo's....

Keep in mind the key word your looking for is "destroy" not "sent to the Graveyard." So sending him to the Garveyard for Ultimate Baseball Kids effect would not work.

For one thing Tributing is (generally) not the same thing as destroyed. In addition Tributing is not a "card effect" so the Pheonix won't come back if Tributed for something even if for a card effect like Cannon Soldier.

The Divine Wrath ruling is specificaly refering to when Pheonix has already been destroyed and is in the process of Special Summoning itself back via it's own effect, therfore his Secial Summoning ability is directly being targeted and negated.

Her effect activates upon a successful special summon. Trap Hole, Bottomless Trap Hole, and Torrential Tribute work upon monsters that are Successfully Summoned/Special Summoned.

It is like Moisture Creature when it is summoned and someone tries to Trap Hole it. Alternatively, even like the Trap Hole versus Mobius situation. Does Trap Hole Stop Mobius' effect? Does Mobius Stop Trap Hole? The Answer to these Questions and much more is no. The Monsters Effect would Be Chain Link 1 and then the Trap Hole like card would be Chain Link two. The Trap Hole card would Destroy Mobius/Phoenix/Moisture Creature then Mobius/Phoenix/Moisture Creature's effect would take place. Simple...

I do not know why people have so many Questions about this card when similar cards have been released and you can use them as reference.

The Pheonix's effect is not contingent on a succesful Special Summon as it can still return if the Summon is negated. "
That's why so many Question arise, because it's simialar to other card effects but not truly the same. It's easy for people to get them mixed up.

thanks you all.... everything is clearer. Like I stated above, basically it's the obvious things that makes her get her effect. Well, At least I know that the two effects of it's second effect vs> bottomless, bottomless overcomes. So know I know to get rid of their back row cards first....

"Destroy" 1 face-down monster and remove it from play. If the monster is a Flip Effect Monster, both players must check their respective Decks and remove all monsters of the same name from play. Then shuffle the Decks.

Even If Ur Phoenix Is Nobleman'ed She'll Be Coming Back!

UDE stated that her effect is a graveyard effect, so she won't come back if removed from play. They should write "destroy and send to the graveyard", it would have done us a great favor.
