Can I tribute a token to set my Guardian Sphinx. The last line of text says
"The tokens cannot be used as a Tribute for a Tribute Summon. "
Tribute Summon and Tribute Set are different right?

Afraid not. A Tribute Set counts for your once per turn Normal Summon or Set. Sheep Tokens are ineligable due to Scapegoats effect.

But I thought summon and set are two different things. I know you can set a monster and still activate Scapegoat,.....Right

Depending on what the effect is looking for, a summon and a set can be the same thing.

In the first case your restricted from ALL summons. Thereby makeing a "Set" exempt. In the second case, it specifically says it cannot be offered as aTribute for a Tribute Summon and does not exempt the "set."

The Sheep Tokens from Scapegoat cannot be used for a Tribute to Normal Summon or Set any monster. The card would be fairly broken if you could do that.

Sort of, yes. You can set a monster in the same turn... just as long as you're not sacrificing a token to do so.

Some argue that it's broken enough as it is.


But the curious thing is, although I accept what this ruling means, Cards such as the monarch series and Behemoth have effects only when they are normal summoned with tribute and use the term "tribute summon" to denote this.
