I am just wondering if anyone here knows when Shadow of Infinity will be legal for tournament play? I've searched various places and have found zilch.

It even looks like Upper Deck hasn't updated the official Yu-Gi-Oh page since EEN was released.

I do know that it is usually legal the first day of the month after the set becomes available for sale in stores, so I assume that it will be legal April 1. But of course I could be wrong.

Any help would be appreciated.

sneak peaks are usually 1(2) weeks before the initial release. So it may be April 1st the set will become event legal.

Tournament legal as in HObby and so forth is legal upon release and is usually upto the TO to say weather itll be legal in their tournaments. :D

TO's are required to follow the official release dates as I understand it. Unless they are making some kind of special event with a special restriction. But they aren't allowed to chosse whether the set is legal or isn't. If it's legal then it's legal for them too. They can't make policy for UDE.

That was an argument I have had for awhile, but as it turns out, UDE has given TO's the "choice" as to whether or not they will allow certain cards, sets, boosters, etc. It's their store and their tournaments, so they have free reign to design them within the constraints of Tournament Guidelines.

Great. The only problem with that is that not all TOs are up on their tournament policy. Especially ones who haven't played the game in a while or have outright quit the game. They tend to impose miscontrued policy and personal prefrences.

Policy only affects Major events like
SJC, Regionals, Nationals, Worlds, Pharaoh Tour, etc... etc...

Hobby league and Duelist League is seperate and its upto the store owner / TO to play how they see fit.

You should have known this Dj it was on the Judges List a while back :D

you think that's bad our to doesn't even play the game and we don't even have a judge!

Wouldn't cards be tournament legal the moment they come out?
Sometimes, yes. But in order to "level the playing field" so to speak, new sets are given a grace period so that people who aren't able to make it to the Sneak Preview events. This makes a judge's job easier so that they can brush up on rulings for the new cards.

For officially sanctioned events such as a Regional, Shonen Jump Championship, etc., most new sets aren't tournament legal until the first of the following month. As others have mentioned here, some Tournament Organizers allow for the use of new cards right away. Ask the head(s) of your local tournament in advance and they should be more than willing to give you the necessary info for your tournament.

Over here it was tournament legal on Saturday.

My shop does the whole..legal upon release. Packs got backordered though, so they won't have them until Tuesday. Soo...they would have been released if they weren't back ordered. :D

Most shops allow the cards they sell in their tournaments. They don't want to sell something that isn't at high demand. Why would people wand Treeborn Frogs if they couldn't use them?

Ezzakly.

OMG, I just found out that there is a card shop that does tournaments every Sat. Unfortunately, I am unable to get to them since I don't have a car, and I work on Sats.

Dont you hate when that happens? I had one that was 5 minutes from where I lived, but it started before I got off work on Tuesdays.
