Side deck switching

A few questions regarding a sidedeck:

Am I allowed to make sidedeck changes before a match begins? (e.g. I noticed this player is playing burn, so I side in my counters)

When making sidedeck changes, what information am I obliged to give my opponent about the nature of my changes (number changed, card names or if I've changed anythnig at all).

Yes. It's called cheating and poor sportsmanship. Try not to get caught.

Who said you had to tell him/her anything? As long as the card count is kept the same. He/she can verify card count, that's it.

Having said that, even though it may not be technically mandatory to annouce it, you should (out of courtesy) state how many cards you are sidedecking in. I see no issue with that.

Either that, or hand over the Deck to the opponent and allow them to count to verify after you have finished.

if you know what your opponent is playing and you make deck changes beetween sideboard and deck. wouldnt that be not cheeting. he in no way is modifying his deck with cards outside of his boundry.

then again it may also trow off your opponent.

and they may claim your cheating since after everygame every side board card must return to were they were.

hmm, side decks are kinda iffy, they dont really come into play till after round 1.

I'd actually only let my opponent count my sidedeck, since that always has to be 15 cards. I know that my deck size is supposedly common knowledge, but counting 15 cards is quicker than counting 40+.

At the start of every Match, the rules dictate that your Deck must be back to it's original Deck List form, and remain that way throughout the first Game.

Once the first Game has completed you can then make switches. You can keep your Deck that way for the remainder of the Match if you so wish. You do not have to return the Deck back to it's original form after every Game.

Once the Match has completed, you must return the Deck back to it's original form again.

That is a very good practice. It all depends on the circumstance.

Either way, I think it's courteous to show the opponent that you are playing fairly, however you accomplish that is up to you.
