"Slumber" - (Yu-Gi Oh Fiction)
Slumber
I.
When he came too, he could feel himself floating in the darkness around him. Not cold or frightening; rather it felt like warm, thick liquid, much like the Nile on the warmest of days. How long had he slept? A minute?... An hour?... A Millenium? He was conscious but drowsy, as the waves around him soothed and sedated him. He could not remember where exactly he was, or how he ended up here.
He tried to move, but could not feel his arms or legs. His confusion was compounded by the harmonic, almost hypnotic, pattern of the waves - nudging him gentle with it's current. He snapped out of it, he must remember. He must somehow free himself from this place.
II.
Using all his strength, he concentrated. Concentrated so much that the pain sent shockwaves through his mind, cutting him like a bladed fire. He winced, but did not yield. Soon, he realised the pain pushed back the drowsiness. To his suprise, he was actually enjoying the pain.
Streaks of light flashed before his eyes. Visions. But not clear, more like refracted light shining under water. Colours, places and times gone by flashed before his eyes. He saw altars of blood in his name. He saw kingdoms annihlated in his name. He saw the very power of the cosmos obeying his every whim, with nothing but raining fire and scortched earth left in his wake.
III.
Then, he saw him. How he loathed him. He could feel the anger rising in him, an uncontrolled, beast-like frenzy. him. His eyes lit up a bright, blood red as the next vision shot passed him. He saw him standing alone against his power. He rememberd looking at his victim with a uninhibited amusment. That's when it happened. He with hair like gold and fire, and with the power of those ancient items. Yes, the Pharoh. He remembers him well. He remembered as the Pharaoh used the power of his relics to chackle him, bound him in those supernatural chains. He remembered his limbs being torn from his body. He remembered being banished to this forsaken place. He remembers.
IV.
Just then, he could suddenly feel his limbs. He could feel his power returning, coiling around him like a snake. Then, the light came. Strangely familiar... it compelled him... and he obeyed.
He chuckled as he found himself returned to the world he left. Yes, he remembered it all now. He remembered why he has been released. With his chains broken, he stood again. Complete and with the entire power of the Cosmos flowing through him, his to command.
He was in a dark courtyard. Looking around him, he saw he who had summoned him. Across the courtyard he saw his master's enemy, and the majestic dragon his enemy had summoned to fight him. He could destory them all he smiled, but the words of his master compelled him, and try as he might - he could not resist his bidding.
"Now my monster, destroy his dragon!"
Yes, the only urge greater than his will to be free - was his urge to destroy. Using the malice, hate and anger inside him, he blasted his master's enemy with energy and power unrivalled by any being past, present or future. The dragon roared as it's body was torn apart by the blast. When the smoke cleared, he smiled as he saw the dragon's master on the ground, unconscious.
V.
Suddenly, he could feel himself being drawn back into that place. That terrible, dark prison. He tried to resist, but he was again compelled to obey. The chains, now whole again, dragged him back into the Shadow Realm.
As the world Disappeared behind him, and the darkness once again begain to drain his memories, he laughed. He is older than time itself, and he will once again lay waste to the unsuspecting world. For he was Exodia the Forbidden One, God of Death and Malice, and his time will once again come.
