Are equipment spell cards considered to be continuous spell cards that would be destroyed by a "spell purification " trap card? I know they have a continuous effect, but I'm not sure that they would be destroyed because the actual card text says "continuous spell cards" not "continuous effect spell cards", so I think the answer is no but I wanted to know if there were any people who thought differently on it.

No. While equips are continuous effects (mostly) Spell Purification is specificaly talking about Spell Cards with the little "Infinity" icon indicating it a Continuous Spell Card.
