Hi,

Can anybody confirm that both Andro Sphinx & Sphinx Teelia cannot be special summoned from the deck via their effect with Pyramid of Life?

I'm pretty sure you can only special summon from your hand, but wAnted confirmation.

If I had to take a guess, I'd say you can't summon from the Deck because of this from the FAQ:
"This card's effect which allows you to Special Summon it is a Spell Speed 1 effect that you can only activate during your Main Phase 1 or 2."

This tells me the card MUST be in your hand, since it's a Spell Speed 1.
And I don't know of any/many Spell Speed 1 effects that activate in the Deck.

There's also the fact that it doesn't SAY you can summon the monsters from the Deck. Most effects that allow for that will state that fact in the card text, i.e. any of the LV monsters.

No, you can't special summon them from your deck.
A simple reason? because the contents of your deck are unknown for both players (no matter how many times you've played with it, it's considered that you don't know the remaining cards in your deck). So you don't know if there is a Sphinx in your deck until you draw it...but now it's in your hand .

Dark Sage can activate its own spell speed 1 effect while its in the deck. But, Dark Sage specifically says it can be summoned from the deck, the sphinxes do not.

Summons are done from the hand unless they specifically state otherwise.

That is correct, any monster that doesn't state clearly from where to be summoned, then it is summoned from the hand
