starting to finally understand priority

I've read about it in the rule book (Priority that is) and I think I'm getting it now, but just to make sure, I wanted to ask this simple question.

Say for instance, I'm in my battle phase, and I'm attacking with a spellcaster. Since it's my turn, I have priority to activate the trap card Magician's circle before my opponent can activate a card, correct? I don't have to wait to see if he responds to the attack before I activate it? (I used to think that you did because the video games kind of worked that way)

You are correct. After you declare your attack, you (as the Turn Player) have Priority to respond to your own attack first. You do not need to wait and see if your opponent is going to activate anything.

And moreso in your example, since Magician's Circle needs to be activated in response to a Spellcaster declaring an attack, if you pass to see what your opponent does and they decide to pass as well, technically, you miss the timing on being able to activate it at that time. But otherwise you were right.
