Steam Gyroid CRV-EN033

Steam Gyroid
Fusion Monster (Machine / EARTH / 6 Stars / ATK 2200 / DEF 1600)

"Gyroid" + "Steamroid"

"¢ There are no published rulings for "Steam Gyroid".

Alright, the sort of blah Steam Gyroid. IT's not a bad fusion, but still, not all that exciting. Overall, I like the art on this card the best.

This card comboes with Power Bond, and any other Machine Fusion support that exists. That's about all. Power Bond makes it a nasty 4400 ATK monster, but as with all Power Bond-ed mosnters, a Book of Moon cures that attack boost.

This card has Earth Support, and in a pinch can be used for Spiritual Earth Art - Kurogane. It also has Fusion support, Machine support, and can be Metamorphosised into another copy of itself, or Ryu Senshi, or even Dark Blade the Dragon Knight.

It has a lot going against it too, in that it's a normal fusion, but that cna be good. If it had a combination of Gyroid's effect and Steamroid's effect, that'd make this card rather nasty, but alas, it is not so.

When playing this card in a Power Bond deck, get rid of their s/ts first. 1 set Book of Moon can ruin your day, and you'll still take the damage from Power Bond.

This card is best in a Fusion deck, but so is every fusion monster out there.

Advanced: 3/5
Traditional: 1/5
Sealed Pack: 4/5 With Power Bond, this was a solid pull.
Limited: 0/5 Pass on it here.

All aboard! Next stop on the 'Roid express is Steam Gyroid. Now I'm sure a few of you are asking, why do a review on a normal fusion that only has stats of 2200/1600?

There are two variouis reasons to run these particular machine fusion. The first obviously being Power Bond. That card will turn its average 2200 ATK strength into a colossal 4400. Sure, there are stronger machine fusions out there but the reason that makes this one generally better than say, Gatling Dragon or Cyber End Dragon is the fact that its easy to summon it.

Steamroid and Gyroid are LV 4 and LV3 respectively. That means you can run both in multiples of three without it effecting your deck's ability to normal summon monsters. Although Gatling Dragon is also made of two separate monsters neither one can be normal summon without tribute. Running three of these monsters is risky even you create a deck designed to summon high level monsters easily. You would have the same chance of getting this fusion to work but suppose you don't have Power Bond? What if it gets negated? You're stuck with two monsters in your hand that can't do crud. Steamroid and Gyroid can at least act like meatshields (especially Gyroid) until you get Power Bond.

Cyber Dragons can be summoned in the case Power Bond fails or something but the Cyber Dragon fusions can ONLY use Cyber Dragons. Which means you can only run three max. You can't use fusion substitution monsters. Cyber Dragon can be summon without tribute but you can never get the same amount of opportunities to pull this fusion off when compared to a Steam Gyroid Fusion.

The monsters themselves are nothing to scoff at. Gyroid has the ability to protect itself from being destroyed in battle from one attack and Steamroid is a part-time Beatsick. Its this reason that I personally would use it over Labyrinth Tank fusion. It materials monsters are just as easy to get on the field but can't last as long on their own. Giga-Tech Wolf doesn't even have an effect and it has paltry stats of 1200/1400.

Ok, in sealed format this card is about as useful as loser lottery ticket. Although you do have a goof chance of getting multiples of Steamroid and Gyroid, I doubt you can get more than one Power Bond. 2/5

The fusion material monsters are tough but Traditional is still packin' some serious heat to deal with them. It could work however, just do it at the right time and its game over. 3/5

In advance this card is about the most reliable machine fusion you'll come across as of right now. Easy to get the material and the material itself won't be dead weight in your hand 4/5
