synchro summon timing

I think this question applies to fusion summons and any special summons that require a tribute such as "remove a light and dark monster from play to special summon" too, but I will phrase it for synchro summon monsters.

While in battle phase, can a player attack with a monster, then later tribute that monster to allow a synchro summons while in battle phase? If so, then can the player attack with the synchro summoned monster in the same battle phase.

Also, if a turn player targets a monster, and the targeted player can tribute the monster to synchro summon a different card, is this a legitimate time that the summon can be completed, thus eliminating the target?

Thanks...

You can Synchro Summon (and perform Special Summons like that) only during your Main Phase. You can't do it in response/chain to anything.

The same applies to Contact Fusions (monsters like "XYZ Dragon Cannon" or the "Elemental Hero ____ Neos" monsters).

For Fusion Summons, it depends on what card you are using to perform the Fusion Summon. "Polymerisation" is Spell Speed 1, so you can't activate "Polymerisation" in response/chain to anything. However, "Super Polymerisation" is Spell Speed 2, so you can chain it to an effect that targets. "Super Polymerisation" will resolve first and Fusion Summon the monster, and then the targeting effect will (usually) do nothing, because its target has disappeared.

Urgent Tuning is like that for Syncros:

Urgent Tuning
Normal Trap
Activate only during the Battle Phase. Synchro Summon 1 Synchro Monster. (Send the appropriate Synchro Material Monsters to the Graveyard.)

Trap Card that special summons

What about a Trap Card that indicates to special summon a monster. If the Trap is activated in battle phases, would the effect be invalid because Special Summoning is not allowed in battle phase?

Thanks

No, if it's a Trap Card, and it doesn't have any other restrictions on it, then activating it during the Battle Phase isn't going to stop the Special Summon. Entropy wasn't saying you can't ever Special Summon during the Battle Phase. He was saying that Syncro Summons and Special Summons like it can only be performed during a Main Phase. In other words, Special Summons that require a manual initiation like that. Other kinds of Special Summons can be performed during the Battle Phase, otherwise, how would you resolve your Giant Rat or Pyramid Turtle?

Otherwise (if it was forever forbidden to summon during a Battle Phase) we would have never had Ultimate Offering (which can be used during your opponent's Battle Phase). And before anyone asks...no, you cannot use Ultimate Offering to Synchro Summon, because that is a Special Summon.

Ultimate Offering
Continuous Trap
You can pay 500 Life Points to Normal Summon or Set 1 extra monster. You can only activate this effect during your Main Phase or your opponent's Battle Phase.
