team attacking vs spiderman

1)if my oppenent declares a team attack on my 7 drop spiderman, can i chain and exhaust his characters that are team attacking?

2)what would happen if my oppenent is team attacking with 2 characters and i exhaust 1 of his characters with my 7 drop spiderman, would that be considered a one character team attack?

1) You exhaust a character when they declare the attack before the attack is legal. If you allow the attack to be legal all thier characters will exhaust and gain the attacker characteristic. Then it's to late to use spidey's effect.

2) When you exhaust a team attacker it would make thier proposed attack illegal, they can then propose a different attack.
