Magic cards are obviously not allowed to be set or activated during the =
battle phase. Normally, trap cards are not allowed to be set during the =
battle phase. However, a recent ruling about a combo involving Chick =
the Yellow, Call of the Haunted, and Makyura suggested that, by using =
Chick the Yellow's effect, Call of the Haunted could be put back in the =
hand and then re-activated once more thanks to Makyura's effect and =
Chick the Yellow could attack again, thereby creating an infinite combo. =
Does this mean that trap cards can be set during the battle phase no =
matter the situation, (despite the speediness of simply activating a =
trap card like it was a magic card, Makyura still requires you to set it =
first) or is it simply something to do with Makyura's effect?

Answer:
Please read "Makyura the Destructor's" effect more closely. It specifically allows you to activate Trap Cards from your hand. This means that you do NOT have to Set them on the field first.
That said, it is never legal to Set Spell or Trap Cards during the Battle Phase, unless an effect like "Dust Tornado" is used to do so.
