Can you get "Troop Dragon" effect when you tribute summon and use him as the tribute?

Thanks,

i wouldnt see why not.

the effect states that when it is sent to the graveyard you can get another troop dragon.

so i wouldnt see why not.

its like the whole if peten gets saced you cant get another one kinda thing, but really you can. :)

Can I get a judge to answer this question as I have and Advanced Duelist telling me that yes I can bring out another troop drangon after I sacrifice, and then I have another post from an Intermediate Duelist telling me that I can not.

Thank you, to both of the responders as I am greatful for the help, but I do wish for additional clarification.

I am a judge, have been for over 3 yrs. You think the "Intermediate Duelist" means anything?

You want another opinion...by all means. Someone else help the man out.

Troop Dragon

Monster Type:  Dragon
Attribute:  WIND
Leve: 2
Attack:  700
Defense:  800

Card Text:

When this card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, take 1 "Troop Dragon" from your Deck and Special Summon it to the field in face-up Attack or Defense Position. The Deck is then shuffled.

Its pretty clear about "destroyed"....  The Game Mechanics involved with a normal Tribute Summon does not result in destroying Troop Dragon.  It only fulfills the "sent" portion of "destroyed and sent".

The first part has already been dealt with by nova.

Although I am gonna question you on the Peten comment. Where did you get your information from? Peten's effect CAN NOT be used if it was sacrificed for a summon since the very last action was the monster being summoned rather than Peten going to the graveyard. If it were a mandatory effect than it would be another matter, however since it is an optional effect it will not trigger.

Those titles you refer to are titles the message board automatically applies to a persons name, based on how many posts they have.

The same reason why he can't bring another Peten to the field when the first was used as a Tribute is why I pulled Michizure from my deck. It has to be the last action that occurs i.e. your monster going to the GY, before you can activate its effect.

I have heard that the long delayed errata on Troop dragon was finally about to hit US shores. What I mean is that Troop Dragon is only going to get its effect when it is destroyed by battle. However, this is the same information sources that gave me the hint that Necrofear's ruling was finally going to be changed too, to match JERP.

Have I missed the announcement that those rules are in place? Or does anyone know when those rulings are going to be made effective?

PS: on a side note. Ive seen Novastar around on another site, DAILY, for well over a year. He is my rulings god! :wizard:And more accurate than some Level 2 Judges. (no offense to L2 judges, but Nova is really that good) When I grow up I want to be his Mini-Me. Its safe to trust his judgement, IMO, but definitely question him throughly, as he can give you a lot of info. :D

LOL, mini-me...thats a riot squid :p.

Um...i don't what to say squid...thanks, but the praise is really not needed. We all learn from each other, which is what i aim to do. :)

As far as the Troop Dragon errata. I saw a post by Kevin, where he basically stated that he is deliberately keeping Troop Dragon as is, in order to keep Deck creativity up. If i can find it, i will post it.

You can play with a "broken" Troop Dragon for now (with text as written) since
this has not been widely publicized. I'm not keen on 'insiders' knowing card
errata when they're not available to the public on the web page....

We've actually been putting off a Troop Dragon errata (i.e. NERF) for over a
year now, just because he helped (in his very small way) to encourage a little
more Deck diversity.

The real impetus for changing his text officially was that we revised most of
the first 6 sets' card texts for the Master Collection.

So play it as is...for now...
