Hmm, let me see, never had a girlfriend or anything, and currently in the process of doing Leaving Cert Mock Examinations for the whole week unfortunately. So for Valentine's Day, I'll probably be studying. :(

coughlazyanduninspiredcough. Damn flu. Still kicking my ass.

LOL. Let me know how uninspired that seems after 8 years of marriage :D You'll be surprised how quickly the inspiration becomes "shoot, got her that. Got her that too. Yep, she has 10 of those" ... :D

On our FIRST Valentine's day, as mere boyfriend and girlfriend, here's what I did. Perhaps it's more up your alley:

- Bought her a collection of Charles Dickens novels (in one volume)
- Bought her a small print of a Mary Cassat painting at the National Art Museum in Washington, D.C.
- Went to see Gisele (a ballet) in Richmond, Virginia
- Treated her to a 5 course meal at some fancy pants restaurant in Richmond afterwards.

Better?

edit: After confirming this with my lovely wife, I seem to have forgotten that I also gave her a copy of "Return of the Jedi" on VHS. ROFL. In my defense, it's because she told me she'd never seen it :D Oh, and some Godiva chocolates too. Man they remember everything, don't they? I don't even remember what I had for dinner last night.

And once kids enter the picture, you just want to be able to spend time alone.

I wrote a love poem/letter for my wife once for Valentine's Day. Only took about 7-8 days, but it was something she really loved.

This year she is getting a card and maybe dinner on the weekend if we can get someone to watch the boys.
