whos gettin ps3

who cant wait for the 1 the only ps3... im gettin it and thinkin of gettin wii not very sure i cant wait for the new metal gear solid on ps3 and the brand new online play its goin to be fantastic who's gettin ps3??
 
im going to get one for the new metal gear solid game and the new sonic game and becuase it's backwards compatible with ps2 and ps1 games
 
How much use can it stand? People went through multiple PS2s, because they kept breaking. On the other hand, I still have my NES.
 
NES was indestructable! Its the only system that I stll have and works without replacing it. 20 years and still going strong. The new systems are rushed out so quick they don't get them working right on the first try. Luckly my PS2 lasted 5 years. I'll be waiting untill the second or third shipment before picking one up.

Really? I've got a PS2 Slim, and no problems whatsoever a good two 1/2 years into owning it. Not showing any signs of slowing down either.

But I'm thinking about either a PS3, but probably more likely a Wii - that way my fiancee might actually get into playing it. It IS more active.
 
Most guys are waaaay to hard on their consoles. They think the console has a Life Bar that recharges after they drop/sit/step/kick/hit/spit/drool on them. These consoles will last as long as you take good care of them. I used to leave my PSX running for days on end and it still runs smooth to this day. You also have to treat your discs with a little common sense as well. Storing them in stacks outside of their cases isn't exactly the best way to keep them from running without errors.
 
The only console that gave me problems was the PS2 and it was the disc read errors. Only happened on blue disc. This was common for first run consoles. After awhile it stopped reading all of them. I found a fix for it but it only lasted for a year then the same problem occured. I messed up fixing it the second time and trashed it. So I had to spend $80 getting another one. I still have my Dreamcast, N64 and PS1.
 
I feel that buying a first gen console is always a mistake. There's bound to be bugs and errors. Like the old PSX's that used to catch fire. :D My PSX was a last gen console, and it's stood the test of time, and repeated playing. Even restarts easily when it sits for a few months.
 
In the case of the PS2, newer consoles burn out more easily. And they were made more Region-resistant. Which is bad.
 
I suppose they are, but what happens is you set yourself up for some headaches and extra disappointment when your trying to nab those games that are probably going to end up local anyway. I've seen guys spend loads of cash on games that they just HAD to have, only for the game to wind up in America and in the used games bin two months after it's release. I wait a little while longer and end up playing the same game for less money and headaches then they do. I can understand enthusiasm, but the obvious value doesn't escape me. However, my point was that the whole regional coding thing is only a plus or minus if importing is your thing. A little patience and you can get most of the games you want and for less effort and dough then is necessary.
 
the new metal gear solid game is kwl but the bad thing about it is that ur not realy the old snake ur some guy that looks like snake and nos everything like snake they say that u get to see the real snake l8ter on in the game.....

but i think that raiden from number 2 should be the person played in the new metal gear solid
 
Super Robot Wars, DJ. And Melty Blood. Those games will never come to the US, because Sony of America doesn't like 2D games. It makes the PS2 look bad, like it's a 2D console. Apparently.
 
PS3 is'nt worth it in my opinion. I don't really care what anyone says. It isn't. And I can vouch for PS2s being unreliable somewhat. I'm on my 4th. I keep just paying Best Buy for the 2 year plan though and have actually got money back since the 1st one. I'll explain: I paid $300 for the first one, and $25 for the plan. When I went to replace it, the price had gone down, and they gave me the $100 back on a gift card. Paid $25 for another plan. Took that one back, $25 again. The last time, PS2s had gone down again, so they gave me $50 back on the gift card, and I paid $20 for the new plan.


300+25-100+25+25-50+20 = 245
I have gotten back $55 since my first PS2. And this one is protected until sometime mid 2007.

Lesson learned: THOSE SERVICE PLANS ARE WELL WORTH THE MONEY!!!!!
Without it, I would have given up on Sony by now. Which is why I don't care about PS3.....besides the fact Best Buy won't insure a system over $500. At least last I checked.
